    Application

I applied online. The process took 3 daysinterviewed at Staples (Madison, NJ) in March 2013.

    Interview

All applications are submitted online. You upload a resume and take a personality test. The personality test just tells Staples how willing you are to bend over backwards for them. A day after I submitted my application I was called to schedule my first interview which was with the Assistant Manager. He asked some pretty basic technology questions as well as asked about previous experiences with customers. I was immediately scheduled an interview for an interview with the General manager of the store. This interview was the same as the one with the Assistant Manager. After the interview he had me take a knowledge test. It kind of reminded me of a very outdated A+ exam.

    Interview Questions

    • The "hardest" part was the outdated computer knowledge test.   Answer Question

    Negotiation

There is no negotiation. You have two options, accept the offer they give you or look for another job.

    Interview

Easiest interview ever. They were desperate to hire people. Asked me basic computer questions. Applied online and had the job 3 days later after doing some online assessments of my skills. Concerned about how easy the interview was because some of my co-workers are clearly not qualified

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 daysinterviewed at Staples (New York, NY) in April 2012.

    Interview

They asked me if I knew anything about computers and I said yes. That's it you got the job. That was the easiest interview I ever had. They didn't test me or anything. I have 15 years computer experience and they just believed it and took it as is. I could have been lying for all they know. Pretty bad interviewers if you ask me.

    Interview Questions

    Negotiation

They said hows 11 sound? I said it sound ok. They said great and I got the job

    Certified On-Site Technician Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Sacramento, CA

    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeksinterviewed at Staples (Sacramento, CA) in June 2011.

    Interview

I was originally hired as an in-store technician. There were only 2 interviews I had to go through. The first was with the sales manager, who took me back to the furniture pad, and we had a far more casual interview than I expected. She asked a lot of the common questions, like previous employment, values, etc... During this interview, she called over one of the techs at the time, and he asked me a few technical questions, which were very easy to answer. The next interview was with the General Manager, and this one was a little more formal. We spoke in her office, and I was mainly asked questions about different scenarios. After that, we just talked about the job's expectations, and she quizzed me a little on customer service. I heard back from them about a week later, in the afternoon, and they just said, "We would like you, you're hired." The only test I had to take was after being hired.

    Interview Questions

    • There weren't many difficult questions. The only one that I had a little trouble with was explaining to the General Manager the different service plans and services that the company offers. The Sales Manager had given me some pamphlets to study, so I was somewhat prepared for it.   Answer Question

    Negotiation

I was able to negotiate a 50 cent increase in starting pay.
