I applied online. The process took 2+ weeksinterviewed at Staples in January 2015.

Interview Details

I applied on the 9th. They called me on the 15th for an interview the next day at 9:00am. I got there early and the manager was done with his first interview and I got seen early. He told me immediately that he interviews differently than most people and he was right. It was casual and I answered everything honestly. He liked my "vibe" so he told me he would have his assistant manager interview me the next day (which was a Saturday). Unfortunately I had a family emergency and I called and said that I couldn't come to the interview because of it. The main manager said that he was willing to wait for everything to calm down. I called on the 19th and he said he would have his assistant call me. I only waited a day until the assistant called me and scheduled me for an interview at 12:30pm the next day. This interview was more "normal". "What can you bring to Staples?" "What can Staples do for you?" "Why Staples?". He told me that he would discuss everything with the main manager after our interview and if they agreed they would send me a link to do a background check and I was to follow and fill in EVERYTHING. I thought it would be a day or two before I heard anything. An hour after my interview I received the link for the background check. I was told it can take 7-10 days for the background check to go through. I emailed the manager after I was done with the background check and thanked him for the opportunity. I have never been or arrested or anything like that so the check shouldn't take to long to go through. If I am offered the position I will definitely take it.

Just had a interview a couple of days ago with the GM. I've never been good at interviews so I was nervous at first I tend to get tongue tied when answering questions but the GM made it easy he was super cool and laid back but also stated what it was he was looking for and what's expected. I found him easy to talk too I just wish all interviews was just as easy or at least just as relaxed

I applied through their website and got a call after one day. The manager called me but I didn't listen to the voice mail a week later. I called him back and was called in for the interview the next day. Since it was my first job interview I was nervous but it went well. They really want to know about what experience you have and why you want to work at their store.

I was called about a week after I submitted the application and was asked to come in for an interview that day. I sat with the manager and team supervisor to discuss the expectations of the job. They then went through basic interview questions and offered the job.

    • The questions were typically all the same. They asked why I wanted to work there, which can be somewhat difficult to answer honestly unless you really love office supplies.   Answer Question

I applied online. The process took 3 weeksinterviewed at Staples in January 2014.

    Interview Details

I filled out an online application and all I can gather from that is that you should pay special attention to the questionnaire. They want people who are attentive. I got a call a few days later and I went in for an interview with the associate manager. She only asked me, "Why do you want to work for Staples?" Answer honestly. If they see sincerety and see that you're being 100% with them, they like that. She took me on a tour of the place. My second interview was with the General Manager a week later. This was a little heavier on the questions. "What do your parents think of you? Bad things about you, good things about you? What do your friends say about you? What do you think is customer service?" Think before you answer, but be prompt and concise. Get straight to the point. Honestly, just don't fret too much about it. If you show that you're laid back with a promising work ethic, I think you'll be hired. Just be human and have a calm vibe. I got called back within two weeks (they told me 1 but they took 2, so don't fret if they don't call you back). They had me fill out some paperwork and then watch a couple of videos.

There was none. I'm still unaware of how much I'm going to be making. You can ask, but I'm not actually in this for money so I guess it depends on you. Plus, I'm relatively inexperienced, so I'm sure I start at the lowest wage possible.

I applied online. The process took 9+ monthsinterviewed at Staples in September 2013.

    Interview Details

I applied in the winter of 2013 for several jobs. I was contacted in the late fall by Staples and showed up for an interview. The interview went well, manager was very friendly, but was just recently hired and was very disorganized. Questions were general and about job experience, preferred positions, hours, etc. There were no "difficult" interview questions as I had expected (personality questions, things like that). Received no contact after the interview.
