They use the STAR interview process. Be prepared to explain real problems and solutions and what you did to overcome etc. Express your customer service skills to the max. They first do a phone interview with the assistant manager if you pass that you then move on to in person interview with the assistant manager then after that you have an interview with the general manager then after that with HR and the higher ups. 4 interviews total

I applied in-person – interviewed at Starwood Hotels & Resorts in July 2012.

    Interview Details

I went to their job fair. Upon arrival, I filled out an application, submitted it and waited to be called. It took a while to be called considering that there were a lot of applicants. Got screened by an HR first. HR asked basic interview questions that she reads from a sheet of paper, which she also writes to fill in my answer. After that, I was asked to go back the waiting area to wait to be called by a manager.
Did the next interview with the Front Desk Manager. Same with the HR, her questions come from a sheet of paper and she also writes down my answers on it. Questions were mostly about dealing with customer service. I was told after that if I got selected, the manager would call me. The whole process took me around 3 hours.
I got the rejection letter a month later.

    Application Details

I applied online. The process took 2 daysinterviewed at Starwood Hotels & Resorts in January 2011.

    Interview Details

Starwood uses a behavioral interview process. First they call you and speak with you on the phone. If they like you they will ask to schedule an in person interview which always consists of two people asking questions while you answer and they write.

They ask you certain questions about how you have helped improved a guest's stay in the past, what you did to make a difference at your last job, and how you have helped others succeed and so on. They write down as much as they can about what you say so choose words carefully, and be natural. They do not like it if you look like you are making things up or do not have solid examples to go on.
