Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at State Farm.

Interview

Interviewed for sales. The agent determines who he or she wants to work with, not really a corporate interview. Talked salary and commission, schedule, strengths, weaknesses, etc. Dressed professionally and promoted myself.

    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took a week. I interviewed at State Farm (Eureka, CA) in March 2015.

    Interview

Was extremely easy. Applied directly to agent via an Indeed ad, got a phone call from the agent for an interview. Interview was a 1 on 1 sit down at a coffee shop in my case. Requires drug and background check, no criminal background allowed whatsoever. Received job offer on the spot. One item of note, make sure you ask lots of questions in regards to salary during AND after training, I was in for a big surprise (not a good one) post training.

    Interview Questions

Interview was very quick & must show insurance knowledge or it will be a long learning lesson through mistakes however almost 99% of mistakes are reversible. Make sure the office you are interviewing at is a place you can see yourself working at everyday otherwise your production will reflect your attitude and you will be looking for another job in no time.

    Interview Questions

    Negotiation

it is what it is , you may counter offer but you will get a feeling from the Agent that you can check out other offices if you dont want his offer.

    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied online. I interviewed at State Farm (Houston, TX) in January 2015.

    Interview

Very laid-back, standard interview process. The agent was very friendly and asked me about my previous experiences and also talked about some hobbies. Very quick process and if they like you, they would offer you the job right on the spot, given that you can pass the certification test for your insurance license.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at State Farm in November 2014.

    Interview

Complete basic application, then was sent online assessment, contacted about a week later for interview, a week later second interview, answered some online questions which were basic get to know you type questions, then a interview with office manager, and another interview with hiring manager.

    Interview Questions

    • The questions were pretty typical, but having great examples to talk about seems to be my problem. Like tell me about a time you had a difficult or angry customer and how you handled it and what you would do different.   Answer Question

    Application

I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at State Farm (Cedar Rapids, IA) in October 2014.

    Interview

Applied online, had a brief conversation with the State Farm Agent (you can call it a phone interview), went in for an interview with the agent. There was 12 minute pre-interview test and then an interview with the basic personality questions about experience and question and answer session. Took about 1 week to hear about the position. In the interview it was expressed that it was a sales position and a decent chunk of the pay would be commission.

    Interview Questions

    • The questions on the pre-interview test that threw me off were comparing and contrasting English proverbs like "a friend in need is a friend in deed"   Answer Question

    Reasons for Declining

    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at State Farm (Torrance, CA) in October 2014.

    Interview

I got the interview through a Craigslist ad online. The response time was the same day and we scheduled the interview for that week. It was a preliminary phone interview in which the agent asked me how much I knew about insurance, if I had researched the companies services online ( I did) and if I was a "go- getter". The agent was very driven and looking for her team to be the same. Insurance sales is not for those who take "no" easily and I could tell their was not going to be a lot of support getting clients from the agent. It's pretty much every woman for herself. You do all of your own networking, all your own selling and the agent gives you an office space in which to work and pays you an hourly rate. The bulk of your income is made off of commissions as are most insurance companies and you create your own monthly sales goals above the minimum that the agent requires. I got a second in person interview but am thinking of turning it down. The agent just seemed to be very intense.

    Interview Questions

    • "I took a lot of time crafting the craigslist ad, which part of the ad appealed to you most that you would want this position?"   1 Answer

    Reasons for Declining

Agent seemed very intense, too much push to just sell, sell, sell. Every person for themselves. Not my cup of tea.

    Application

I applied online. The process took a week. I interviewed at State Farm.

    Interview

After submitting my resume online I got a call from the very friendly hiring manager, Jackie. Right away she scheduled an appointment for me to come in later in the week but told me to start the formal application/background check so that it could be expedited to corporate. It was a very detailed and thorough questionnaire- almost unnecessarily so. Leave more time to do it than you'd think. Interview was one on one with the hiring manager and it was more information thrown at me than any hard hitting questions. She even helped me finish and send in the application and gave me a packet of literature to go over before the second interview.

    Interview Questions

    • What is it that you think we do here? How much do you know about insurance?   Answer Question

    Reasons for Declining

Completely commission based pay. "Training period" where you're studying to get your insurance licenses, therefore not selling anything and not getting paid. In fact, tests were quoted to cost me personally "no more than $200."

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at State Farm.

    Interview

I heard of the opportunity from my new landlord, who forwarded me to her Agent for renter's insurance. I spoke with the agent, and got an application. I filled the application out online, and was asked to come in for an interview the very next day. During the interview, I was interviewed by 3 other staff members before being interviewed with the Lead Agent. Then I filled out a background check and did an aptitude test and was hired on the spot. I start next week.

    Interview Questions

    • Pretty standard questions and reviewed my background in customer service. I have experience as a game developer as well, so they were pretty happy with how technical I was.   Answer Question
