I applied online. The process took a dayinterviewed at State Street in January 2008.

HR basically showed a group of people a video about State Street. Then we were paired off one on one for two separate interviews. When I went through the interview process, the people interviewing you weren't even the people that you would work for. Now, I heard that the managers who interview you are the ones that you will actually work for- which clearly makes more sense.

I applied online – interviewed at State Street in April 2014.

    Interview Details

I applied through the company website and six days later I get a call and there and then I have a phone interview, which was very basic as it included questions about my work experience and qualifications, but I was asked about the State Street and what they do, so be prepared for this, but I personally wasn't expected to know too much as I had no notice of the interview therefore no time to prepare, but overall call lasted only 30 minutes and interviewer that conducted the interview told me all about the interview process, i.e. what will happen in round 2 and 3 of the interview stages.
Later that day, I received an email alerting me that I was scheduled for second round interview the next day and the email also included a document detailing the job description, this interview was broken into 3 sections, (1) Work experience and Education (2) Technical Questions i.e. basic financial concepts (3) Behavioural Questions. You will be asked what you know about State Street again and it is important to know what they do as it shows you are interested in working for them. Once all the questions are asked you will be given the opportunity to voice as queries or questions, this call lasted one hour. I haven't heard anything back yet about the 3rd stage but I was told I would have to wait about 3 weeks.

    Interview Questions
    • Know your basic financial concepts, this is important, such as Net Asset Value, Funds, Derivatives, Bonds. Also when explaining the concepts use examples of each. Other questions included: What would you do if you were on a project and there was somebody that was being difficult? How do you ensure that you will complete your project before the deadline   Answer Question

I applied online. The process took a weekinterviewed at State Street in April 2014.

    Interview Details

2 Phone interviews. First interview was very relaxed with general questions about CV, knowledge of State Street, expected salary, holiday plans and location preferred. The call finished with the lady telling me that I had got to the next round which would be a more formal interview and gave me general guidelines on expected questions. Second interview was much more formal and to the point. Asked questions about how i dealt with mistakes at work and dealing with a difficult colleague. Interviewee said I would hear back either way within one week but as of yet nothing. Found the interviewee very abrupt.

I applied through an employee referral. The process took a weekinterviewed at State Street in December 2011.

Stated with an email with a recruiter. They called me and went over the job and the salary and asked me a few questions about my experience and then invited me to an interview. My in-person interview was with my manager and his manager. They asked me mostly questions about my work experience but also a couple personal questions about my travel experience. They were both very nice. Nothing really that difficult or noteworthy and then I got a phone call a few days later that I got the job.

The process took 5 weeksinterviewed at State Street in July 2011.

    Interview Details

I applied online on 2nd June 2011, got a 30 mins phone interview from HR a week later. The phone interview consists of both normal interview questions and behavious questions( no technical Q here!) I then got another call from HR to schedule an interview with 2 account managers on 27th june. It was a friendly one hour interview that consists of most behavious questions. I passed the first interview, and been scheduled the second interview with both account manager and assistant Unit head a week later (on 4th July). The second interview was relatively more serious, but overall was ok. It took me 40 mins and consists of most behavious questions.
After a long wait, about two week and a half, i got the offer! Thank god!

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4+ weeksinterviewed at State Street in February 2011.

    Interview Details

I applied through their online job postings as well as through my university. Then a quick phone interview which was mostly a 3rd party screening agency rep talking about information i already knew about the company. The in person interview was scheduled for 3 weeks out. It was very laid back and was mostly a conversation about how they enjoyed their job. they did not ask about any specific skills related to the position. They are mosty concerned about how excited you are about the position and company. we talked a lot about how they are involved in the community and try to promote close relationships within the company.
