I interviewed online - interviewed at TJ Maxx.

Interview Details

applied online and heard back weeks later, the interview was as easy as ever. asked the basic questions, "what does customer service mean to you?" "what is your availability?" "can you do the basic tasks asked of this position?". really easy going but they over scheduled interviews so there was a long wait and multiple people waiting at a time. to fill one position they had 20 interviews scheduled that day. not very professional or efficient in my opinion, to have every potential interviewee sitting there with the others was uncomfortable.

I interviewed online. The process took 2 days - interviewed at TJ Maxx in May 2014.

    Interview Details

It was a two part interview. If you fill out an application online you will have to refill out an actual application. I t was a group interview, we met with the assistant managers they asked us about ourselves and showed us around the store. They said if they liked you they would give you a call for an interview with the store manager. That same day I got a call for an interview the following day. The store manager asked "why would I like to work at Tj Maxx". " What does customer service mean to you". What do you like most about customer service. Those were the only questions asked and I was hired. The process was pretty easy. Good Luck!

I interviewed online. The process took 2 weeks - interviewed at TJ Maxx in June 2014.

    Interview Details

Applied online, took 5 days for them to call back. Missed the call, but they left a message to call back to set up an interview. Called back as soon as I could, but the one who called me was done with her shift, so I called the next day. They asked me to come the next day at 11:30 for the interview. Next day, I went in told an associate at the counter that I had an interview at 11:30. They asked me to take a seat. A few minutes later the manager handed me an application to fill out. Afterwards, we went to his office it was a little messy at the moment. We sat down and he immediately asked "What brings you here?" I was a little stunned because he hadn't introduced himself and I was expecting an introduction. I even forgot to give him my resume and cover letter. It took me a few seconds to recover from that, but afterwards I felt like it went well. The manager then proceeded to explain to me what a merchandiser/sales associate would be doing day to day. They asked me if I could do that. I said "Yes, definitely." The store manager suddenly came in and introduced herself and shook my hand. The manager then went back to asking about my availability during summer and after summer since I am in college. They asked me if I had any questions. I did and I think both of them appreciated that. I asked again if they had any additional questions. They had none. The manager told me they would contact me within a week about the result. I shook his hand and the store managers hand. Then went home. They called exactly a week later, and told me to come to orientation. I forgot to ask about pay and benefits on the phone but will make sure that I will first thing on orientation day.

Store manager and Manager were very nice. I told the manager I was a bit nervous since it was my first interview and he said "Don't be I'm nice, most of the time." Manager joked around during the interview too.

    Interview Questions
    • Nothing too difficult for someone who has experience getting interviewed or has prepared extensively for an interview. However, a bit stunned when he asked "What brings you here?" without introducing himself, since it was my first ever interview, and I did not prepare as much as I should have.   View Answer

I interviewed through a staffing agency. The process took 5 days - interviewed at TJ Maxx in September 2012.

    Interview Details

The interview process was fairly easy. It was conducted in a group, and basic work environment and hard/soft skills questions were asked. Job proposals were made the day of the interview, and chances of getting a job offer were high if you used common sense and showed professionalism in your interview.

The associate store manager asked you many questions, and if they feel you are suitable for this position, you will have a 2nd interview with the store manager, who will decide whether to hire you or not. The questions are: what does customer services mean to you, your opinion about team work, your experience about tough task, what is the most and least thing you like during your last job, how do you handle feedback from previous supervisors, how to work in multi-culture environment. I never thought finding a part-time job is so complicated in TJMaxx!

I interviewed online. The process took 3 days - interviewed at TJ Maxx in July 2013.

    Interview Details

The interview was insanely relaxed, it barely even felt like an interview. I was nervous, of course, but it went very smoothly. Within 10 minutes, I had a job offer. All I can say is, be as personable as possible, show them that you're a real person. Make eye contact, make them remember you!

    Interview Questions
    • None relatable to the average person. "So, are you going to tell me why you left school, or do I have to ask?" Apparently I had put down that I was sick on my application, whoops! I also mentioned me having to leave school (because of cancer) and getting my GED because of it. He did like that I was honest though.   Answer Question

I interviewed in-person. The process took 2 weeks - interviewed at TJ Maxx in August 2011.

    Interview Details

It was actually the first application I ever filled out. I had no prior work experience so I was quite surprised to get a callback. I applied in the store (it was policy, though we don't seem to enforce that anymore.) They called and asked if I'd be interested in an interview which I accepted. I met with a woman who works primarily in the cash office for a "screening" interview, which was like the interview before the interview. Was asked basic questions and was told to get 2 references for next time. I was given a date for my next interview. Went in that day and was interviewed by the Operations/Hiring Manager. He was very friendly and understanding that this was my 'first time.' Was asked the usual questions, what does customer service mean to you, why did you apply here, etc. Was called within the next few days with an invitation for orientation day which was shared with one other new hire.

Interview process was super laid back. The manager and I basically just had a friendly conversation about myself and the company. Of course he also asked all the typical questions like when did you have a problem in previous jobs and how did you solve it. Asked if I would be available over holidays and how late or early I could come in.
