I applied through college or university. The process took 3 weeksinterviewed at TJX Companies in December 2011.

    Interview Details

First round: video interview on a site called hirevue. asked to record responses via webcam to various (basic) questions.
Second round: phone interview with recruiter
Final round: flown to corporate headquarters in framingham (boston). participate in a group activity to test skills necessary for the job. then participate in ten 20 minute interview with various people from HR who ask the SAME EXACT questions. many of the questions were actually questions that you needed to respond to on the video interview (they could have just watched the video interview and gotten the same responses)

The whole process takes roughly 3-4 weeks from the time you do the video interview to the time you have your final round interview

The process took 2 daysinterviewed at TJX Companies in September 2011.

    Interview Details

Once I got the email accepting my application, I was offered a phone interview with a Buyer for TJX. The interview was about 30 minutes and I was asked my knowledge of the apparel industry, my goals, knowledge of TJX stores, what I would take into consideration when planning and alloacating merchandise. At the end of the interview, I was offered an in person interview in Boston. They flew me out the night before, and the interview lasted all day the next day. There were about 10 other candidates with me, and two other days of the same thing (competeing with about 30 candidates overall). The first part of the day consisted of 10, 20 minute interviews with various employees who had worked at TJX and gone through the same program. After lunch, we had a group allocating project. We did the "Test" on our own and then discussed as a group, while the interviews watched us intereact and asked us questions about why we chose certain allocations. Afterwards, we were each assigned a different allocator who took us on a tour and gave us more insight into the job we might be doing.
Being able to interact with other candidates was kind of intimidating, knowing the people you were "up against." It was nice to hear their experiences though. Some had a phone interview and a video chat interview before they were offered to come to Boston. I also kept in touch with some after we left. Some found out right away that they did/did not get the position. After a few days I was asked for a list of references who had to fill out a review about me online. Other candidates who were waiting did not receive this email, but received an email with all of the interviewers email addresses so they could send thank yous. I wish I had gotten this because I did not get each interviewers name and wanted to send thank yous. Even though I was asked for references, I did not get the position. Neither did the candidate who got the email with the interviewers addresses. The thing that bothered me was that usually if you get asked for references, it's a sign that you got it. I gave 5 excellent references and they still denied me.

I applied through college or university. The process took 4+ weeksinterviewed at TJX Companies in April 2011.

    Interview Details

There was a full day interview at TJX company which was long but informative. It consisted of 2 1 on 1 interviews and then 2 group exercises where I had to allocate merchandise to specific stores that was dependent on previous years sales trends. There was an analysis on how your interactions were as a group which is important. Then the lunch time is a time to mingle with the interviewees and sell yourself. Lastly you job shadowed someone to learn about their job and you are then analyzed on wether you seemed fit for the job and your personality.

I applied through college or university. The process took a dayinterviewed at TJX Companies in March 2011.

I had a half hour interview for the CMTP position. Before the interview, I applied on the job board through my school. I also had to complete a personality test and skills test on the TJX website. A few weeks later, I received an email for an interview with a recruiter. I'd say the interview was mostly very basic with the questions. She asked about stregths/weaknesses, why i wanted the job, when the last time i went to a TJX store, what my favorite place to shop is, etc. However, she asked a lot of questions that seemed to overlap A LOT. For example, she asked about a time I had to use creativity to solve a problem. Then she asked about a time I had to use resourcefulness to solve a problem. There were multiple more questions where she asked the same exact question and simply changed the last word. It made answering the questions hard because I would find that the example I already used would better suit a different question.

I applied through college or university. The process took a dayinterviewed at TJX Companies in November 2010.

    Interview Details

I applied for this summer internship through UMass Amherst. Typical of a large university, there were a few recruiters who came for the day and met with many students in 30min time slots. As part of the application process I had to take an online personality test (that LONG test where they ask the same 5 questions in 50 different ways) and also a skills test (compute as many simple math/word problems as possible within a certain time frame). From these tests I knew there would be similar behavioral questions in the interview, and oh where there... The interviewer would choose a job from my resume and ask a specific question referring to my work there such as at this company when did you use good judgement to solve a problem. OK, fine. But after a while she repeated with similar questions to the point where I intervened and used an example from my time at a different company. The whole interview seemed rehearsed on her end and hardly gave me time to explain myself adequately. Overall, not the best interview. I did not get a second and frankly didn't mind.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeksinterviewed at TJX Companies in November 2010.

    Interview Details

The interview process was very informative and gave me a great insight as to what it is like to work there. I appreciated the candor the marketing team gave me. Overall the process was very positive as it helped me make the decision not to pursue the position. I met with three members of the team and overall I think the interview took about 2 hours.

My friend who works at TJX passed on my resume to the recruiter. I received a call 1 week later to set up an phone interview. It was about 30min on the phone. They asked about why I am interested in TJX and the program. They want someone with strong analytical skills, so definitely stress that. Went over my resume and previous work experience. I was told to hear back in 1 week. I am still waiting for them to reply.
