I applied through an employee referral. The process took a day - interviewed at Tagged in June 2011.
Phone interviews went very well but were brief and not very detailed from a technical perspective. Company arranged for and provided travel to the on-site interview.
Was advised to arrive early and fill out paperwork so the interview could start on time, which I did, and then had to wait 15 minutes after the scheduled start time because the first interviewer wasn't in the office. The replacement interviewer wasn't well-prepared, which I was willing to overlook given the circumstances, and had a tough time explaining some of the interview questions. There were multiple options for this segment but were all basically statistical or engineering "how-to" type problems. The second interviewer was a project manager and mostly discussed my current company role rather than the role being applied for, but was talkative and personable. There was a break provided for lunch on-site and a brief facilities tour, plus some idle chitchat with other workers in the cafeteria. Last interview was more problem solving and statistical questions, after which the recruiter advised they would be looking at other candidates. Last interviewer was quite standoffish.
Very quiet work environment, mostly software engineers. CS may also be in the same area although I wasn't introduced to anyone. Company seems to be expanding quickly as much of the building was being built out while I was there.
Definitely got the feeling they were looking for far more out of this position than was requested by the posting as the questions being posed by most parties were well beyond what the phone interviews had implied. This may be normal for startups though, as it was my first interview with one.
