I Originally Had Applied for Cashier But Ended Up Interviewing for Sales Floor Team Member/Electronics Interview

I Originally Had Applied for Cashier But Ended Up Interviewing for Sales Floor Team Member/Electronics
El Paso, TX

I applied online and the process took a day - interviewed at Target in April 2012.

Interview Details – ITS VERY DETAILED AND A BIT LONG BUT IM SURE AND HOPE IT WILL HELP YOU.
AND PROBABLY WILL ONLY NEED TO READ THIS ONE UNLESS YOUR NOT APPLYING FOR CASHIER/SALES FLOOR TEAM.

(Application Process)

I applied at Target online ,so in this case it doesnt matter if you apply in store or online, I used to hear and think that you had to do it in person that they preffered in store applicants, but this proved me wrong they take you in account either way. I had i thought i wasnt going to get called because they didnt call back right away(more than a week). It took about 1 month for them to contact me which was a surprise because i had already forgotten and given up on it, but take note if they are not interested they will send you a rejection email in about a week. I know this from experience i had applied before with NO previous job experiece and i got the rejection email, i applied later on with a little expirience ( 3 months office assistant experience so i doesnt have to be retail experience) and they called. Also i had applied at 16 and 17 and they also didnt call me and send me the rejection email so i think even though they say they hire 16 year olds, they really dont maybe hire 1 or 2 every now and then. So i think they really prefer people with previous job experience and over 18. So if you dont get the rejection email they will most likely keep you their system and they will most likely call you to interview.

(Interviewing Process)

What to wear: This was more of a conservitive interview so i wore black skinnies nice shoes and a pretty floery top with a mid-sleeve blazer.

For men: Slacks nice shoes and a button down, hopefully with no distracting print but this one guy was wearing one and and got hired, but i wouldnt just incase the interviewer was more conservitive. DONT CHANCE IT.

When i got the call they told me to come in on friday at 10am so i did. I arrived and went to the customer service area and told them i was here for the interview, she said to go to the computers and finish the application which was about 15 questions about "what would you do " questions (easy). After that you go upstairs into the office area and wait in the break room. There was about 7 of us there so i got nervous I made friends with the people there and this one guy told me he had been there since 8 am! I immidiately started thinking it was going to take forever and it did. I was second to last to arrive there so i was second to last to be called. I got there at a little before 10am and didnt get called till around 12pm for the first interview then i was send back to the break room and noticed there were only 4 of us left. The other people didnt have the patience and left better for us. I honestly think they test you to see if you can wait and weed out the crowed because i read on here this happened to a lot of people that it took a while to interview. So the interview consisted of 2 5-10mns interviews And both interviewer girls were very nice especially my new boss.

After i was done with the first interview went to the break room and like i said went back to see only a few left i was the last one so it went by faster for me than the other guys that had been there since 8 am i got called for the second interview in about 15mns and that consisted of the same questions and a couple new ones and re-confirning my availability and telling me about the Drug test and signing forms that i consent. And i was sent again to the break room thank god there was a tv there. After the guys i met came in the break room telling me they all 4 got hired left i got called to the desk the girl there told me i got the job for electronics that i needed to go take the Drug test in the next 24 hours or the offer would be removed and that she will call in about 2 weeks to tell me about my orientation. And i think that the guys there said they just got assigned sales floor team no specific area like myself so i think theyre just going to be temporary since the store is going to be remodeled and their original team was busy with that. But hopefully they will keep them because they were nice guys.

So if they dont specifically assign you to a area ask if its a temporary job so you get informed and dont waste your time. But when your a temp and they like you they keep you so it depends on what you want.

So im excited to start working Target seems great and good luck and hope it was helpful.
