Cashier/Sales Floor Team Member Interview

I applied online and the process took 3 weeks - interviewed at Target.

Interview Details – Received a call to schedule phone interview with a team leader within a week of submitting my application. Phone interview was simple and quick only about 10 minutes long. Was 4 asked questions.
1. Why Target?
2. What would a pervious employer say is your greatest strength and greatest weakness?
3. Tell me about a particular time you had to work well as a team.
4. Tell me about a time you gave great customer service.
Received a call later that afternoon asking to schedule in-person interview for the following Monday.
Went in Monday and met with an Executive Team Leader. Watched a short video. Pay attention to it! Then had m interview. Asked 3 questions.
1. Tell me about a time you made a mistake.
2. If an item is ringing up 19.99 and the customer swears its 17.99, what would you do?
3. If a customer is looking for a shoe but we no longer carry the size or make what would you do?
I guess she liked my answers. Said she would be back in a few minutes and then in came the HR lady. She said that the ETL I interviewed with wants to offer me a job on the sales floor but there are no hours for that position but if I wold start as a cashier, then transition to sales floor when it become available. Of course! Went home with my job offer and had to take my drug test the following day since I was interviewed on Labor Day. Just waiting on orientation now.

I applied online and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Target in November 2011.

Interview Details – I applied during the holidays and it really easy to get picked up. All you gotta do is apply online and during the questionnaire on the online test be confident in you're answers. So they called me within 3 days after applying online for a interview the following week. Interview takes place in the morning and when i showed up there were probably five other people waiting to get interviewed to. I waited in the break room for like 30 mins until one of the supervisors came to pick me. This was my first interview and i was very nervous and by the end of the interview the supervisor told me that just to be very upbeat and positive and keep answers short. Waited in the break room again for five minutes. The Hr manager came to pick me up and asked me the very same questions as the supervisor. She was also really nice and offered me the job.

Interview Question – Describe a time when you and a group worked towards a similar goal. Most of the questions are similar to this.   View Answer

Negotiation Details – I was asked if i wanted to negotiate but decline due to this being my first job. i Started at 8.25 which is 25 cents higher than the current minimum wage.

I applied through an employee referral and the process took 5 days - interviewed at Target in July 2012.

Interview Details – Very easy to talk to. I have had 3 interviews already. I wasn't expecting it, but some of the questions were asked over and over again by different interviewers. I still have one more interview to go through, just got a call from them to come in for the final one!

Interview Question – Nothing really difficult. They just ask about various work situations and past experiences. I had worked at a fast food place so I had many incidents I could come up with as quickly as possible.   Answer Question

The next step is with an ETL then HR.

I applied online and the process took a day - interviewed at Target in December 2011.

Interview Details – Applied online to several different Targets (Irvine, Mission Viejo, Foothill Ranch) and received a telephone call to schedule an interview. At each of the different Targets, it was like a deja-vu, I was interviewed by two female leads and the same questions were being asked. I get a little nervous during interviews, but nothing that would separate me from the rest as being not hirable... The results - twice I was sent an email denial within a couple days and the last one never communicated with me regarding my hiring status, even after sending a follow-up letter. Now, I have a 4 year degree and 10+ years of experience in customer service, sales and/or anything else that would easily qualify me for the position. I don't want to be rude, but I have seen the selected talent Target hires, so I'm a little shocked at their decision to have excluded me. In today's economy, no one is over-qualified. I am truly disappointed in Target!

Interview Details – The interview process was a three step process. I originally was called in to interview as a pharmacy cashier and eventually that position was filled by someone else. The process took a day - interviewed at Target in January 2012.

Interview Details – I filled out an app with Target earlier in the month, wanting desperately to escape my current job and its slim hours, and was very surprised to get a call within days about a full-time sales floor team member or presentation opening. Got the call on a Friday and was asked if I could come in Monday; unfortunately our schedules conflicted enough that I couldn't go in until the following Friday.

Someone scheduled another individual for an interview at precisely the same time as me - "that wasn't supposed to happen," I was told - and he finished his questionnaire just before I did, allowing him to make his way to the back while I sat around for about 15 minutes. The first of two interviews went well; having studied the questions available here I was able to answer with no hesitation. I had to sit in a room alone for literally half an hour before the second interviewer could see me, but in that time I got to listen to the interview process for the other individual that had shown up (sounded like he got about as far as I did). The second interview seemed easy enough and I thought that I had done well, but I was asked to verify my email and was told I'd be contacted through email after other individuals were interviewed Monday and Thursday. I tried to remain upbeat but couldn't help thinking... OK, who in the world gets an email when they've scored a job? Sure enough, I got my rejection email today (Monday). Almost an hour of sitting around staring at the wall for nothing. Thanks, Target of Brentwood.

Interview Details – First I did a quick online application. My aunts that works there referred me to the HR department. It took about a month before they called me in for an interview. It was a 1 on 1 interview which consists of work availability questions, previous education and employment etc, etc. They said they would call in a week but never did.
