I applied through college or university. The process took 1 week - interviewed at Target.

I applied online and then was selected for one of their on campus interviews. The interview was one on one for about 30 minutes were you were asked questions like "Tell me about a group project you worked on" and "Why do you want to work here?" Pretty standard interview questions. After the interview you had to complete an online test with SAT type math questions, I thought that was odd. After about a week I was not selected to move on.

The interview questions were all "Tell me about a time you" ...failed, made a mistake, had to make a difficult decision, had your greatest accomplishment. The interviewers do not give you very much feedback at all. There were two interviewers who both just started at my resume the whole time.

I applied through my school and was granted an interview, but the interview team seemed disinterested with what I had to say even with basic questions such as background, goals, etc. It was discouraging and I had a feeling that perhaps the position had been filled prior to my arrival.

I applied through college or university. The process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Target in April 2013.

    Interview Details

I attended an on-campus career fair and was able to give my resume to a Target liaison. I then went through a preliminary phone screening, then an on-campus interview, then an interview at the Target District Office, and then a final phone interview with a Regional Manager. Although the process was extremely nerve wracking for me, each person I talked to was incredibly encouraging and helped put me at ease. As far as interview questions go, they were mostly behavioral (i.e. Describe a time you made a mistake).

I applied through a recruiter - interviewed at Target in October 2012.

    Interview Details

I found the Target intern program through them heavily recruiting on campus. I went to basically an open house for them when they discussed more about the company. If you decide to go to one of these be prepared, they will put you on the spot (but in a good way). In a way it was a prep for if you were going to decide to move on to the interview process.

I did my first interview on campus with two representatives. One asked questions, one wrote down my answers. It went smooth and the questions were your average behavioral questions. They want all the details. From there they called a day later to let me know I moved on to get a second interview and gave me my interviewers phone number to call and get feedback on my first interview to see how I could improve for my second.

My second interview was at our district office with a district team leader. Some of the questions were repeats and some were not, but only had about five. However, I was asked almost the same questions in three different ways and had to give one on the fly because I didn't have enough examples. Those were all regarded situations that went wrong, and how did I fix it or how did I deal with the people etc...

I found out a week later I got the intern positon, but they did wait until the last minute to find out my location.

I was super excited for this interview as I had talked to several Executive Team Leaders (ETLs) at my school's career fair. Every single one was friendly, outgoing and shared a similar positive experience at working with Target. I left the campus recruiter my resume and was contacted about a week later to set up an interview.

At my interview, two different Store Team Leaders interviewed me. One interviewer sat there listening, and the other interviewer asked questions and wrote down my answers. They hardly interacted with me, and when they did, it was to ask follow up questions.

Be prepared to answer behavioral questions. They are nice enough to tell you what to expect/bring when you set up the interview AND before the interview starts.
