Interview Details – Got through three interviews, the interviewers were reasonable and friendly, and the interview went fine. However, I was not selected for the position and never heard back from them even though I made it to the final stage. Bad communication from the beginning, I was disappointed that they didn't communicate.

Design Engineer Interview

Design Engineer
Dallas, TX

I applied through college or university and the process took 4 months - interviewed at Texas Instruments in December 2013.

Interview Details – Sept 2013, Initially I had an on campus interview in a career fair. they asked me 2-3 simple and then hard questions and I answered well, then they scheduled an on campus interview.
Initially they asked the difference between MOS and BJT. I said current noise and so on. Also a few questions on PLL. In the on campus interview they asked about a source follower.
Then I had to do a presentation of a design that I had done through skype interview. They asked a few questions not so hard regarding that design.
On the on site interview there were 2 groups. Th first was tough. They asked many many questions on PLL I answered most of it but had not review it so did not answer all the questions. The second group was good only a question on phase margin, stability, simple OTA and also many questions on first order RC circuits. like the step response and so on.
I though I did very well but apparently was not enough!

Interview Question – Power dissipation of the PLL how to reduce it.   Answer Question

Applications Engineer Interview

Applications Engineer
Dallas, TX

I applied online and the process took 2 months - interviewed at Texas Instruments in January 2014.

Interview Details – I applied online and received an email for a phone interview two weeks later. Had to do a 10 min presentation on a topic or project of your choice to two managers during the phone interview which lasted more than an hour.

Afterwards, got a call a week later for an on-site interview. All expenses were paid for i.e. flight, hotel, rental car, etc. We had dinner with some engineers who are already in the rotation program. The next morning, two one hour interviews were scheduled for each person. My first interview consisted of two managers. I presented the same project from my phone interview. Afterwards, many technical questions were asked. A white board is in every interview room so you're able to draw any diagram or write anything on the board. The second interview consisted of three managers. After presenting my project again, they seemed more interested in behavioral questions. Everyone was very friendly and made the interview process enjoyable.

Interview Question – Design a smoke detector and basic analog questions.   Answer Question
