Cleaner Interview

Mount Laurel, NJ

I applied in-person and interviewed at The Cleaning Authority.

Interview Details – Very fast. They give you an application. Ask for last 3 places worked, 3 references etc. After filling out my application and handing it to the interviewer she had me wait in the waiting area while she looked it over in her office. I heard her whispering to the other girl in the office but I couldn't make out what she was saying. When she came out and approached me she had a very long face on. She said that after reviewing my resume and seeing that I've worked as a receptionist, I am "used to sitting", therefore I wouldn't be "a good fit" since this is "hard work".

I am clearly able-bodied and this struck me as outright discrimination on her part to rule me out since I've done desk work. Ridiculous. They just let a reliable hard worker with transportation walk out the door because of this woman's presumptions. After all of this, she goes on to tell me about the job anyway and says she will speak to her supervisor about me to see what he thinks.

The pay rate is lower than some other cleaning companies too.

Interview Question – Not difficult but last question asked "why should be hire you"?   Answer Question

House Cleaner Interview

House Cleaner
Lees Summit, MO

I applied online and the process took a day - interviewed at The Cleaning Authority in December 2010.

Interview Details – It was very brief, almost desperate. But since I was also desperate I took the job. I learned very quickly it was a rotating door as to who came and went at this business. No experience necessary.

Negotiation Details – SAY NO.

Professional House Cleaner Interview

Professional House Cleaner
North Bend, WA

I applied online and the process took a day - interviewed at The Cleaning Authority in February 2011.

Interview Details – I answered an ad on Craigslist for house cleaning, and received an email back the same day, asking me to come in the next day for an interview. I sat down with Paul for about 30 minutes, and my first impression of him was rather rude - he kept looking at the clock and had obviously scheduled himself a little short on time because there was something else he said needed to attend. We discussed the terms and whether this was something that could even work for me.
The same day, I was called for a phone interview with his son, who makes the final decision on hiring. This conversation took about 20 minutes, and I was asked all the normal interview questions.
I was not informed that I didn't receive the job (on the day they said they would call), but a week later they called me back with an offer, which I foolishly accepted.
They did not check (or even ask for) my references.

Interview Question – Describe something from a previous job that was disappointing to you.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – I wasn't able to negotiate anything. The terms were already there, and he was insistent that this was a very job with really good benefits and pay.
