interviewed at The Nielsen Company in June 2013.

There were a 1.5 hour written test & a one-to-one interview in the first round. After 1.5 week, there were two one-to-one interviews.

The written test was fair, including two case studies and ten simple maths calculations like % and probability. The interviews were simple, asking about background information, experience, etc.

The recruitment process was not quite delightful. They did not answer emails or calls. It is important to take the initiative in contacting them.

I interviewed through a recruiter. The process took 3 months - interviewed at The Nielsen Company in October 2012.

I am very disappointed with the way Nielsen has conducted the recruitment process, especially considering the kind of reputation it holds. I was contacted by a recruitment agency for a position with BASES. They had n number of rounds! First there is a maths test and case studies. Fairly difficult and apparently only 1 in 12 people pass the test. I passed that and went on to the telephonic interview where the interviewer asked me questions which tested some competencies and also my interest in the CPG industries. I passed that and then went on to the assessment centre. It comprised of a attention to detail task, group case study, group presentation on the case study, individual case study and presentation and then a competency interview. There is nothing really to prepare for the case studies. One only needs to use their common sense and be confident while talking to the panel. Individual case study had a lot of data to study in a very short period of time. We also had to make our presentation in that time period. Competency interview was just too detailed. They keep on probing you for more answers. At the end of all this they rejected me saying that they wanted more from the competency interview and that I did well in all the other tasks. I don't know how a decision can be based on one subjective interview when I have shown all the skills they need in their job through their innumerable tasks. They didn't send out a rejection letter formally. For the salary they are offering, they put us through a lot and still wanted more which I didn't understand.

The process took 3 weeks - interviewed at The Nielsen Company in December 2011.

    Interview Details

Applied online, I was contacted by HR asking me if I could come for the evaluation test the next day, since I was busy, asked for the day after. On the evaluation/HR interview day, met another candidate who was interviewing for the same interview, so while I was doing the evaluation, he was being interviewer and vice versa (in different rooms of course).... Took the test, although i had a language evaluation on top on the usual testing everybody had been talking about here, I wasn't given any additional time so didn't get to finish the language evaluation. After the evaluation, had an interview with an HR lady who look overworked, tired and although she did a good job explaining the job and company, I could see her almost closing her eyes which were completely read, that didn't reassure me about the company. At the end, I had to follow up with her almost 2 weeks after to check the status and was told I didn't pass the evaluation.

My advise is to not let yourself be tricked into taking the evaluation quickly, when they set up the evaluation schedule, they make it seem like routine, easy but trust me you need to prepare as it is a race against time and you need to have few questions and math skills in the pocket before you go..... I am good at testing but think that I made a big mistake by accepting to come for the test after just a day. All my questions were on this site, so ask for at least a week for preparation, take your time and solve every problems here, you should be fine, they are not difficult but you will need to prepare.

I interviewed through other source. The process took 2 months - interviewed at The Nielsen Company in February 2009.

    Interview Details

I heard that Nielsen had vacancies through an ex-colleague in a previous organization. I emailed my resume with a cover letter to the id given by my contact. Within a week, an HR person contacted me to fix up a telephonic interview. This was a general personal interview. A fortnight after this, the HR manager called to say that a domain expert from the region will be calling me for a technical interview. Over the next fortnight, my technical interview was done and I recd an email with an offer letter.

    Negotiation Details
There is no need to negotiate with Nielsen. They are very professional - they know what the job needs and what the candidate has to offer in terms of qualifications and experience. So their offer is always apt. And of course they pay well.
