I was introduced to the office manager informally by a friend, and set up an informational interview with her, without knowing any specific openings. After talking to me about half an hour about my general backgrounds and skills, she seemed to like me, and then said, one of our teams was looking for someone to fill an administrative position. It is probably not what you are looking for, since you have a master's degree. But are you willing to try? I said, yes!! I am willing to take any job, to get my foot in the door.

A friend recommended me for an STC position. They needed somebody ASAP. I've got a phone call the next day from the manager. The manager asked me when I can start and a few other questions and that was it. She gave me an offer right away and I accepted. I had to travel back to my country to get the visa, so I started 2 weeks later. Everything was super fast and easy.

I liked the offer and accepted right away. I needed the visa, so I didn't want to negotiate. Moreover, the offer was awesome for my first real job in the US - right after school. I've had a little of experience, but in a different field.

I had worked with them before, so knew the people in the interview process. Selection really depends on whether they think you are apt for the job. Emphasis on ability to perform in the time frame they determine.

    Interview Questions
    Negotiation Details
Not much negotiation on rate as they have a rate schedule based on experience and years that is pretty narrow.
