    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4+ monthsinterviewed at Toyota (Torrance, CA) in January 2015.

    Interview

Process took approximately four months from start to finish. Initially was reached out to by a recruiter, had initial phone screen, then a second phone interview, then a final interview. The process was actually quite lengthly, from the original time I was reached out to for the position, to the times in between. I was first approached about the position late 2014, and I didn't complete the final interview until this year. Received an offer letter very shortly after the final in person interview. Note: They DO administer pre-employment drug tests.

    Interview Questions

    • Questions were very detailed, examples of projects, went through every single position on my resume, and was asked how it related to the position. Interviewer was very knowledgable and candid about what the position entailed, as well as what the organizational structure was going to be like.   Answer Question

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4+ weeksinterviewed at Toyota.

    Interview

1st: Met recruiter at my college career fair. We spoke for a few minutes while he reviewed my resume
2nd: I received a call that night to set up an interview (the following day)
3rd: Had my interview which was a 2 on 1. Pretty basic questions. It was the typical behavioral questions. Also, Why Toyota? Why the auto Industry? Willing to Re-locate? etc.
4th: Received an email a few days later inviting me to the headquarters in Torrance CA for the final interviews
5th: Flew out the CA about a month and a half later. The first day consisted of two interviews. Both were 1 on 1. Nothing too challenging. Again, pretty standard interview questions. That night they cut the about half of the candidates (from about 50 to 25 or so). I was invited back to the final round which was the following morning.
6th: This interview was a 3 on 1. Definitely more intense and questions a bit harder. Still some behavioral questions. More specific to why the auto industry and Toyota. Wanted to know all of my questions. (have some good questions prepared) After the interview, I took an excel assessment which was pretty basic as well. Just ensuring that you can do the basic functions on excel.
7th: Flew back home. About one week went by and I received a phone call with the Offer!

The entire process took about 2 months.

    Interview

Met Toyota at a recruiting event, offered me an interview on the spot. There were 2 interviewers who were very friendly. The interview was simple behavioral questions and nothing unexpected. For an engineering internship. Was offered the position after the first interview on the spot

    Reasons for Declining

They mentioned the company lags on innovation and take a more conservative stance in the product development market. Experiencing an employee shortage so overtime is considered the norm.

    Application

I applied in-person. The process took a dayinterviewed at Toyota.

    Interview

Hired on within 10 minutes of speaking to a recruiter. The on boarding system was rough in 2012, but has consistently gotten better. Toyota has been able to kaizen (continuously improve) this process and it has helped for the traveling engineers/interns that deal with hiring on 2x/yr.

    Negotiation

    No Negotiation for co-op salaries.
