Difficult Interview

Mainframe Developer Trainee Interview

Mainframe Developer Trainee
Richfield, MN

I applied online and the process took 4+ weeks - interviewed at U.S. Bank in July 2012.

Interview Details – The first step was a phone interview with one of the hiring managers. The second step consisted of a standardized logic aptitude test and an evaluation on written communication skills. The third step was an interview with 7 application managers at once. The fourth step was an informational interview with a senior-level staff member. The fifth and final step was an interview with 3 more application managers.

Interview Question – You seem like a very humble man. Why do you not tout your achievements in a more "in your face" fashion?   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – The job was entry level mainframe developer training, so the offer was non-negotiable.

Branch Manager Interview

Branch Manager

I applied online and the process took 4+ weeks - interviewed at U.S. Bank in July 2012.

Interview Details – Long process. FIrst, after you put in an application, you have to wait approximately a week until it goes thru HR and then gets funneled to the hiring manager. Most of the time, the hiring manager doesn't get to the req for a few days because they are busy with things that they shouldn't need to do (small business), and then they finally call for an interview

Post Foreclosure

I applied through an employee referral and interviewed at U.S. Bank.

Interview Details – The culture within the bank is very high school, if you don't fit in with the popular crowd than no one talks to you including the managers.
I've talked with many co workers and they all agree, the culture is very much who can suck up the most.

Interview Question – How much do you know about the mortgage business?   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – They do not negotiate really, at least in my department.

Universal Banker Interview

Universal Banker
Cameron Park, CA

I applied online and the process took 4+ weeks - interviewed at U.S. Bank in April 2013.

Interview Details – They do a phone interview, then they ask you to come in to the district office so that the district manager may interview you. That is followed by the branch manager setting up a date to interview you. If they want to hire you it takes over a week. The entire process is about a month long.

Interview Question – Most questions asked were pretty "run of the mill" the most difficult question was probably a "what would you do" ethical question since the branch seemed to have ethical problems.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – There was no negotiation, they gave me the pay amount and they said that they do not pay more than that amount.
