Application Details

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 6+ monthsinterviewed at U.S. Bank.

Interview Details

My resume was passed along by a friend to a hiring manager for a contract position in their department. I was called in for an interview, and met with several employees, as well as 2 different managers. After following up, I never heard back about the position. 6 months later I received an email from one of the other managers asking if I was still seeking employment. I was, so agreed to a phone interview, followed by another in-person interview with the manager and 3 other employees. I found out after the offer was extended that it was for a completely different position (one I was overqualified for). I was in need of employment, and accepted the position, but it was confusing and frustrating to be offered a job for which I had no idea what the responsibilities were, as well as being passed back and forth between departments and hiring managers without any indication. The actual interview process was typical - asking about my experience mostly. A few days into the new job, my new boss was telling everyone that she hired me for my extensive background in a field I never indicated I had such experience in. I felt like I was walking in completely blind and unprepared.

Interview Questions
  • Since it was for a contract position, the questions were very straight-forward and mostly had be explaining my background and experiences.   Answer Question
Negotiation Details
No room for negotiation. As a contractor, I was told I was being offered the highest rate possible, and no benefits are included with this type of work.

    Application Details

I applied online. The process took 2 weeksinterviewed at U.S. Bank in November 2011.

    Interview Details

Started with online application, brief phone call with hiring manager, follow up interviews with senior management and finally a call with HR. There was an emphasis on having strong writing skills and accounting background. New focus is on being an active member of the community. Make sure you have specific stories ready to go, such as a time you found & resolved conflict with a manager/customer/etc.
