Lengthy interview and they dont get to tell you where you went wrong. Funny that they decide a pass or fail, and just hand you a letter....worst kind of interview.

    Interview Questions
    • They asked me why I wanted the job and why I feel suited for the position. I wouldn't want the job if I had not taken the time to avail myself for the interview!!   View Answer

I applied online. The process took 10 months - interviewed at US Department of State in June 2013.

All day assessment meant to be a challenge. Group exercise was straight forward but had people who were unyielding--I failed. Case management was just like one from packet--long with a twist towards the end--I passed. Interview is straight forward exactly and I mean exactly what the packet says is going to happen

    Interview Questions
    • Typical behavior based interview questions for the SI portion. The Group Exercise was challenging due to the limited time and cramped spaces to work.   Answer Question

Second, submitted 6 personal narrative questions that pertained to leadership, initiative, and other desirable qualities. Final round is a day-long interview consisting of an interview, memo-writing, and a group session where you, along with a handful of other applicants, discuss the merits of a particular project while the interviewers monitor you.

The process took 4 months - interviewed at US Department of State in March 2010.

9-10 month process, but once you schedule your oral assessment test, it is approximately a 3-4 month process. Group exercise stresses cooperation and being able to follow directions and complete the task on time. Case management is relatively difficult, exercise stresses time management and ability to wade through lots of irrelevant material and boil the facts down. Individual interview fairly standard, probably the easiest part.

Lots of post on Oral Assesment elsewhere. It consists of a group excercise, a one on one interview, and a written assignment.
-The group assignment involves 4-6 people with ~4 assessors (sp?) sitting around the outside of the room. You are given a scenario and need to advocate for your project and then work towards a compromise.
