The process took 1+ week - interviewed at US Navy in August 2008.

Interview Details – Honestly have all your ducks in a row. This could be a LONG interview and qualification phase. Drug testing throughout your whole career, plan on it. Intelligence test, ASVAB, this will determine what job (Rate) you will get, and in turn what bonus if any you will receive. Watch out, most bonuses include another year tacked onto the back side of the contract.

Interview Question – The questions that they ask are more personal background questions   View Answer

Negotiation Details – NO negotiation, just take what they give you. there is a pay scale.

I applied through a recruiter and the process took a day - interviewed at US Navy in September 2009.

Interview Details – Joining the Navy isn't like getting a civilian job. A person wanting to join needs to visit a military recruiter and they will begin the process. A person with a high school diploma, high enough ASVAB score and no criminal history should be able to join. The person can't have any physical or mental disabilities limiting their ability to function in a physicaly as well as mentaly (at times) demanding conditions.

Interview Questions

Negotiation Details – Theres not much negotiating with a recruiter. If a person has done ROTC in high school or some other program they may be able to enlist at a higher paygrade or a person with a Bachelors Degree may be able to join as an Officer.
