Application

I applied in-person. The process took 3 weeksinterviewed at US Navy (Columbia, MD) in February 2014.

Interview

I was asked open ended questions about my history and my future goals. There was a great deal of interest in my educational background and my abilitiy to adapt to an office environment. I was asked to explain complicated personnel situations I've been faced with and how I worked to resolve them. I was able to share the fact that I have a propensity to learn technical details and I can easily translate them to senior management, but I had no desire to be in the technical trenches.

    Interview

We don't interview to move to the next position in the Navy. We take an examination and if we pass that examination we enter a pool of promotion eligible candidates. A selection board is created to review the promotion eligible candidates and a quota is given to the board. The board reviews candidate performance records and selects the best people up to the quota of candidates. Those that make the cut are promoted.
