I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeksinterviewed at Universal Truckload Services.

    Interview Details

I inquired via email about an open position that I was referred to by a current employee. I received a phone call within 15 minutes of hitting the "send" button. I was brought in 2 days later for an interview with HR and took a test to see where my capabilities were at. And then a couple of days later interviewed with the Manager. After that, I received a call from HR for about a week later, though I was told they had quite a few interviews they needed to complete before making a final decision.

    Interview Questions
    • The test you take is about a 45 minutes questionnaire with problem stories as well as mathematical problems.   Answer Question
    Negotiation Details
I told them what I was looking for, which was in reason, and they accepted my terms.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeksinterviewed at Universal Truckload Services.

    Interview Details

Standard process. Phone screening by HR, interview with manager, interview with HR with personality test.

Ask questions. How many hours are expected to work. I was surprised on my first day that it's a 50 hour work week for salaried employees. I also wasn't too interested in health/dental, but ask if interested. You ain't gonna get anything close to typical insurance.

    Negotiation Details
No negotiation. Take it or leave it. I should have left it.

I applied online. The process took 5 daysinterviewed at Universal Truckload Services in May 2011.

    Interview Details

First was a phone screen. I was then called in for an interview with HR. From there, they had me meet with both the Supervisor and Manager of the Accounts Receivable Department. I was contacted the next day with an offer.

    Interview Questions
    Negotiation Details
The pay was $10.00 - $12.00 per hour to start and I was offered $12.00 and accepted. I believe there would be little room for negociation if they are offering you pay on the higher end to start.

    Fleet Manager Interview

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeksinterviewed at Universal Truckload Services in May 2011.

    Interview Details

I was in need of a job after relocating to the Detroit area. For whatever reason I started looking on craigslist.com and saw an add for an entry level fleet manager position. At the time I did not have any business, logistics experience. I was banking on the fact I have a CDL and use to driver a truck. I sent in my resume and 2-3 days later I received a call for an interview. At that point I filled out an application and sat with the corporate recruiter for about 30 minutes. Overall it was a basic screening interview. Basic questions about my past employment and future goals. About a week later my recruiter called me back asking for a second interview. This time he asked me what I knew about Universal Truckload. Thankfully I did my homework! The entire hiring process lasted about 3 weeks before I was given an offer for employment.

    Interview Questions
    • What I knew about Universal as a company. What is my biggest professional challenge was and how did I complete it.   Answer Question
    Negotiation Details
I was able to negotiate a little more pay and vacation days because I started in the middle of the year and already had planned days off.

    Fleet Manager Interview

    Application Details

I applied through other source. The process took a weekinterviewed at Universal Truckload Services in July 2008.

    Interview Details

The 1:1 interview was not much of an interview. The employer had seen my resume and did all the talking. There were no questions to be answered just an outline of what the job entailed and the overview of the company. The phone interview was about 30 minutes and it covered previous employment, what you would like to do, are you going to school, extracirricular activites.
