Interview Details – Was contacted via email two days after I applied for a group interview. I was looking for a second job since school is out and thought it would be perfect.

There was three other girls with me. All worked in retail already except me...so I knew I was doomed. The MIL was really nice though. Asked all the basic questions.

Sales Associate at Urban Outfitters

No Offer – Interviewed in Charlotte, NC May 2013 – Reviewed May 16, 2013 New

Interview Details – Applied online through the careers website. I received an e-mail the next day to attend a group interview, which was held about 5 days later. There were 9 of us at the group interview. Half the people were dressed in "hipster-ish" clothing and the other half were dressed fairly average. The interview was conducted in the middle of the mall in one of those sitting areas between the stores. There weren't even enough seats for all of us, so half of us were left standing along with the interviewer. The interviewer was the women's team lead and she wasn't dressed in Urban Outfitters style clothing at all.

The interview itself seemed extremely rushed. First, we went around in a circle and told a bit about ourselves and an interesting fact. Then the interviewer started asking us questions. From reading reviews on here, I was expecting some questions relating to personal style, interests, fashion/music taste, etc., but we weren't asked about any of that. We were asked "Why Urban?," "What do we like about working in retail?", "A time when we gave excellent customer service?", "What we would do to prevent theft?" "What we would do on days when the store was not super busy?" I have never worked retail or had any job experience, and everyone else did, so I'm not sure why they wanted to interview me because it was clear they were looking for someone with retail experience. The interview lasted about 13 minutes. I felt like the interviewer knew who she was going to pick within the first 5 minutes, so the rest of the interview seemed like a waste of time. You could tell she was "in" to some people's responses more than others. We finished by going around in a circle and repeating our names.

At the end, she asked 3 of the people to stay an extra 10 minutes to discuss their "availability." From reading reviews on here prior to the interview, I knew that this was their way of discreetly telling these people that they were moving on and giving them a link to the survey. As soon as I heard that line, I knew I hadn't been selected. Of course, she gave us some spiel that she would be in contact with the rest of us and we were free to go. At this point, I was annoyed because the entire process seemed like a waste of time. I commuted 35 minutes there for a 13 minute interview.

No Offer – Interviewed in New York, NY Apr 2013 – Reviewed May 12, 2013 New

Interview Details – I applied for UO April 23,2013 online. 4 days later I got a email from one of the UO stores I applied too for a group interview. On April 30th,2013 I went in for the group interview it was about 7 of us. The asst.Manager placed us in chairs and told us someone was missing and since it wasn't alot of us she was going to do one 1:1 interviews insteads. Everyone got 5-8 mins to talk to the asst.manager.
During my interview she told me that she was going to send a personality test, with easy questions like would you come to work high? or to you believe its ok to steal? Later on that day she sent me the link for the test. I took it and waited once again for a call. 3 days later I got a call from the same women that interviewed me asking me if I would like to back to meet the store manager. I agreed and the Next day I was on my way.
Walked into the store, asked one of the sales associate to point me to the direction of where the manager was. The store manager over heard me asking questions and called me over. 10 mins later we took a sit right on the sales floor and she asked me questions.. just about myself, my work experience, school and fashion. I answered the questions. We both laughed a few times and the vibe was mellow. After we was done I thank her and hoped to see her soon.
It's been almost 2 weeks now. no call about an offer. no call telling me I didn't get a offer. so that being said on to the next one.

Interview Details – I applied online, and then got called in for a group interview. There were two other people there. They asked some typical questions about why we wanted to work at Urban, why we liked the atmosphere, what other stores interested us, etc. They said they would get back to me in a week- it took much longer, and I had to call them back. They then called me in for another interview and it was one-on-one, and they asked me more personal questions about what I do in my free time, what activities I like, etc. Then they had me fill out some forms and when I realized that I had to be 18 to work there, something which I had never been notified of and they had never mentioned to me or asked me during the interview process, I notified them and they couldn't hire me.

Interview Question – What are some current fashion trends you see and what are some trends that are going out of style.   Answer Question

Sales Associate at Urban Outfitters

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Louisville, KY – Reviewed May 8, 2013 New

Interview Details – Applied online after becoming aware of an opening and recieved an email about a week later requesting I go to a group interview. The interview was me and 6 others in the employee lounge with the head of the women's department. We went around the group in a very casual manner answering questions about our styles, past jobs, and future career goals. Over all it was about twenty minutes. Half an hour after leaving that interview I recieved an email requesting me for a second the next day.
This second interview was 3 others and myself on the sales floor with the store manager. Very casual again, going around and answering a few questions about our past jobs, styles, and why we wanted to work there (I thought I did really badly). This interview was about 15 minutes.
A week later I recieved an email requesting I fill out a timed online survey. It was a scale 1-10 agree/disagree survey over ethics and in-store morals. Super easy.
Half an hour after completing this survey I got an email informing me of my employment!

No Offer – Interviewed in Walnut Creek, CA Nov 2012 – Reviewed Apr 29, 2013

Interview Details – I applied the first time during open interviews in November 2012. I didn't have any retail experience, which is probably why I wasn't hired. I reapplied in March, the day the open position was posted on the UO career website. I received an email for an interview a few days later. At that time, I was volunteering at a thrift store and had job experience. It was supposed to be a group interview, but I was the only candidate that showed up. I thought the interview was great, but didn't receive the job.

Sales Associate at Urban Outfitters

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in New York, NY Sep 2012 – Reviewed Apr 27, 2013

Interview Details – I applied online and got an e-mail two or three weeks later inviting my to an open interview in the 5th Ave location. I got there ten minutes early and there were around 100 people. They hand you a paper application if you're 18 years old and you re-fill it out. It's the same one you fill out online. I was one of the first ones finished so I was in the second group called up, placed with 7-8 other people. One guy asked a question and we'd answer one by one. He asks:
1) Why Urban?
2)Best customer service experience
3)Describe best job
4)If you had dinner with anybody, dead or living, who would it be?

Group interviews might be scary, but use it as an opportunity to observe others and find a better answer in your head. I knew most of the questions off Glassdoor already, so I was prepared. I made the interviewer laugh a lot so I was feeling good. It's not really about your resume, more about your personality + looks. Surely enough, one hour after the interviews ended, I got an e-mail back asking to take a survey from the hiring manager in the SoHo location. It's a pass or fail ethics survey so answer right. I had already taken it for Anthropologie, so I e-mailed back right away and he looked up my survey.

One day later, I didn't get a response so I asked if there would be any chance for me to get a second interview. The hiring manager said yes and set me up for an interview that Friday. This time I had a one-on-one in the fitting room area with the assistant store manager who was so sweet. She asked
1) What do you have to offer that other candidates do not have
2) Why Urban
3) If you were an animal what would you be
4) If you saw a co-worker stealing, what would you do? What if it was a manager stealing?
5) Availability
I didn't have my resume on hand and we couldn't figure out who interviewed my in the open interviews so she told me to e-mail the same hiring manager who got me the second interview and give him two references. I did so as soon as I left the store.

For some reason, I didn't get a call back and I e-mailed the hiring manager once again asking about the status of my application. There's not much communication in the store so another hiring team leader e-mails me about a second interview with a department manager so I went to that one as well. She asked the same questions, but I didn't feel so good because it was my third interview while others only had two.

I e-mailed the same hiring manager I've been e-mailing for the past week, telling him about my experience with the two managers and thanking him for the consideration. The day I was feeling depressed about not getting any jobs, I got a call and e-mail about a job offer.

Interview Question – If you could have dinner with a person, dead or living, who would it be?   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – I didn't negotiate. Was offered 9.50 with no retail experience
