Sales Associate/Cashier Interview

Sales Associate/Cashier
Friendswood, TX

I applied in-person and the process took 3 days - interviewed at Victoria's Secret Stores.

Interview Details – The hiring and interview process was very quick, smooth and very well organized. They do have a system for hiring new people and getting them in a position however it may be because they go through a ton of employees all the time. There were helpful videos and even a little work booklet to help me learn the company and my position.

Interview Question – There was one manager in the location I was at that consistently drilled a whole bunch of question I did not know nor learned. she is strict and really expects you to know things even when you brand new.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – No I was unable to negotiate my wage. Had multiple difficulties with scheduling and availability.

I applied in-person and the process took 3 weeks - interviewed at Victoria's Secret Stores in April 2014.

Interview Details – The interview was fairly easy for me at least. I was one of four girls and 3 out of 4 of us have had retail experience already. I showed up 15 minutes early and was told to come back in 10 minutes because the other girls haven't shown up yet, so I just looked around the store. The assistant manager gathered us and took us to a table at the food court, pulled out our applications and I saw that mine was checked 'Yes' already before anything started which was great! I applied in person and came to the store regularly so I was a familiar face already. She told us that she was gonna ask us questions one at a time and she always asked me first. Only asked us about two questions each, then went into the job detail and what she expected etc. Then afterwards we all thanked her for the interview and she told us that the actual hiring manager was on vacation so we'd hear back a week later when she returns. Then it was over.

Interview Question – 1. Have you ever up sold a customer?
2. Sell me your outfit.
questions for the other girls were
-How would a manager describe you in 3 words?

she asked if we knew our sister sizes
asked the difference between servicing a customer and selling

FYI : I was the only one who showed up in all black clothing since it's their uniform and I was used as an example for appropriate dress attire so wear all black!
smile naturally and be cheery and confidence with a positive attitude

I applied in-person and the process took 4+ weeks - interviewed at Victoria's Secret Stores in May 2013.

Interview Details – I applied in person and got a call for an interview a month later. I got the choice of two interview dates. At the interview, unlike the other interviewees, I was dressed in black professional. The person that was going to interview me shift was almost over so I was placed with the others. There were five girls including me around the high school and college age. We went to the food court for the interview. This one girl and I have never had a job before. One girl has never bought anything from Victoria's Secret before and another seemed bored. The interviewer gave each of us a chance to answer the questions. When the interview was done, the interviewer made sure we had our references written down and dismissed us. The interview was about 45 minutes long. I felt like I was one of the girls with the better responses but all I had to reference were my volunteer experiences.

Interview Question – Victoria's Secret does not force customers to buy the product, we inspire them. What does inspiring mean to you?   Answer Question
