Sales Associate at Victoria's Secret Stores

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Towson, MD Apr 2013 – Reviewed May 19, 2013 New

Interview Details – I had applied in person and handed my application in to an assistant manager. They said they were hiring and reviewing applications, admired my handwriting and proceeded to tell me that if I had the qualifications they were looking for they'd contact me. About 1 or 2 weeks later I got the call from VS saying they'd like to schedule an interview the following week. I walked in to the store about 10 minutes early and told an associate I was here for an interview and she told a manager. The manager came out and brought me and guy in to be interviewed. We were brought into the back and into the interview/training room. She asked me and him several questions and it was very laid back but still professional. She asked how I would make a woman feel comfortable for a fitting and asked the guy I was being interviewed with the same question and how he would function in a female focused company. The manager was very nice and very laid back. She made jokes and asked about our lives and seemed interested and genuine. She also asked us what position we could see ourselves working in. I answered as cashier or sales associate. She suggested I be a cashier because my resume showed that I was organized. She reviewed our applications and unsual from other interviews I've been in, she told us what she liked about our resumes and what stood out. She said they get tons of applications a day and for us two to be sitting there, we were one of the top resumes. That was very assuring and I was pretty sure and very hopeful that I was going to be offered a job. I love the company and I feel it'd be a great company to work for.

Interview Question – How would you make a woman feel comfortable during a bra sizing/fitting?   View Answer

Negotiation Details – They asked if the pay was okay and I was fine with it.

Sales Associate at Victoria's Secret Stores

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Rochester, NY May 2013 – Reviewed May 19, 2013 New

Interview Details – I applied in person on 4/24, received a call the next day about setting up an interview for the next week 5/3. There were two people interviewing me, and there was another candidate being interviewed with me. We sat in a common area in the mall. The interview was fun, pretty informal. The interviewers had handbooks that they read the questions right out of. The interview lasted about 30 minutes. After the interview, I was told I should hear back from them in the next few days about scheduling a second interview with the store manager. So about 3 days later I got a call to come in for a second interview, for the next day 5/7. I went in for the next interview and it was also a group interview, with an assistant store manager. It was very similar to the first one, but shorter. After that interview I was told they would check references and get back to me later that week. I didn't hear anything from them, so I called the store on 5/13 and asked about the job (like what stage they were in, in the hiring process, if they checked my references). Then I was told the hiring manager had been out of town and would get to them later that day. The next day 5/14 I received a call saying they didn't forget about me, but that they just had to check my references and I should hear from them by the end of the week. I was feeling uncertain that I got the job, I thought they were just jerking me around and would end up not offering me a position. And then when I just about gave up hope, I received a call on 5/19 from a manager offering me a position as a sales associate that would be cross trained in all other areas and asked to come in the following week to start training 5/28. So it was a long process, but it finally ended on a positive note.

Interview Question – Reach into your purse and try to sell us something out of it.
Name a celebrity who's current style is trending right now.
If you could buy one thing in our store, what would you buy?

Negotiation Details – I was offered a salary and told I could negotiate it if I wanted to.

Sales Associate at Victoria's Secret Stores

No Offer – Interviewed in Santa Barbara, CA Apr 2013 – Reviewed May 13, 2013 New

Interview Details – I applied and waited a few days before I called. They said they had been very busy and took down my name and phone number. A week went by so I went in and they took down my name and number again.
A couple days later I was called for an interview. There was one other girl interviewing with me. It went extremely well and i was called a week later to set up a second interview with the store manager. There was the girl I was with in the first interview and one other. It also went very well and I was confident I got the job. They told us that they were hiring for every position.
It wasn't until almost an entire month later that I got a letter in the mail saying there weren't any positions available and they would keep my resume on file for 6 months in case a spot opened up.

Interview Question – There weren't any difficult questions, really easy interview. They asked about a time we had seen someone do something they weren't suppose to and how we felt, a time we experienced bad customer service and how we would fix it, why we wanted to work at VS, and other simple questions like that!   Answer Question

Sales Associate at Victoria's Secret Stores

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Miami, FL Feb 2012 – Reviewed May 8, 2013 New

Interview Details – Went and applied in person, I got a call back in about 3 days. It is suggested to wear all black so they can get a better picture as if you already work there. (I wore all black) The interview was with 13 other people. They mostly expected you to stand out from the crowd and be quick on your feet. That same week, I got a call back for my second interview. All questions were pretty standard. Why do you want to work for us? Honestly, it didn't even feel like an interview because they made you feel right at home. The most important thing of all, be confident and don't forget to smile.

Interview Question – If you see a customer stealing how could you approach them about it?   View Answer

Negotiation Details – No negotiation.

Interview Details – I handed in my application in person and they seemed really excited to hire. About 3 weeks later I got a call to set up a group interview. I was energetic, i wore all black, and the interviewer seemed to really like my answers. I even e-mailed a thank you note to my interviewer. She even called my references who gave great reviews about me. I didn't hear anything for a week so I called and they said they already contacted those who got the job. I still don't know what I did wrong or what to do differently, I guess they just didn't like me...

Permanent Sales Associate at Victoria's Secret Stores

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Everett, WA Apr 2013 – Reviewed Apr 16, 2013

Interview Details – Had a group interview with 4 other girls. I think we were the first group of 3 or so groups to be interviewed. Everyone was polite, but I tried my best to talk a lot without cutting off anyone. Waited a week to call to see if they filled in the positions as I did not yet receive any rejection post card so I was curious. The manager told me not to worry, she is planning on checking my references and she will call me in a couple of days. A couple days go and i got a call from the manager and offered me a position.

Interview Question – None of the questions were difficult or unexpected as long as you prepare yourself and practice your answers. Be honest, yet modest.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – No negotiation, the manager just called to offer me a permanent position.
