I applied through college or university and the process took 2 months - interviewed at Visa Inc..

Interview Details – I had 4 interviews total--one interview on campus with a recruiter, who discussed the issues Visa deals with in UX, and then asked me a technical question. After that, the recruiter sent my resume out to multiple hiring managers, who scheduled me for three phone interviews over the course of the next month and a half. Each of the phone interviews were 1:1 and mostly discussing my resume/portfolio, the work I did, and how I did it. I explained my process and what skills I used for each project. Some of the interviews were more technical, and others were more focused on my visual design skills.

Interview Question – Why did you choose the colors for this project that you did?   Answer Question

I applied through other source and the process took 3 months - interviewed at Visa Inc. in July 2013.

Interview Details – Hiring took a while. I got in the pipeline early but was OK with the gaps in communication as it gave me time to explore my options. I felt the questions were appropriate and the background on the company's pros and cons were direct and accurate. I felt the type and number of people I met with were appropriate.

Interview Question – You have done this before so why do you want to do it again?   View Answer

Negotiation Details – I countered on salary, signon and start date. Nothing crazy. I got what I asked for on the first two. 50% of getting what is want is asking!

Senior Copywriter and Editor Interview

I applied online and the process took 6 months - interviewed at Visa Inc. in December 2013.

Interview Details – Saw job f/t staff position posted in June 2013. 45 min phone interview set up by HR. Went well, at end told job not being filled til end of summer. Contacted HR every 3 wks agout it. Got call in DEC. asking for interview. 7 interviews in 2 visits - incl. 1 that hadn't been scheduled.

Negotiation Details – Bait-and switch. 6 mos after phone interview, and after 2 visits and 7 interviews for a STAFF position, my boss-to-be called and said "good news! we want to hire you!" gave me details, then said "oh, by the way, you'll be on contract for the first 3 months, then staff, ok?" Then offered me 14% less than at my previous job, too. I wanted a staff position and they'd strung me along for 6 months. Really on the spot so I said yes, figuring I'd do the 3 months and convert. After 3 months, they offered me another 3 month contract. (no benefits at all, no training, not invited to all-staff meetings, etc..) I bolted.

I applied through college or university and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Visa Inc..

Interview Details – Applied through University Recruiting system. Had in-person interview followed by two phone interviews. Received and accepted offer after the 2nd phone interview. The process took 2 weeks. Both of the interviews were largely fit and behavioral based. All standard questions and largely based off of resume-questioning. Know a lot about Visa and the payments industry in general. Have a good reason for wanting to work there, and know your resume well.

Interview Question – What is your 2nd biggest weakness.   Answer Question

I applied online and the process took 3 weeks - interviewed at Visa Inc. in February 2014.

Interview Details – First contacted by recruiter. After interview with recruiter, I had an in office panel interview with hiring manager and three would be peers. Interview was informal without standard interview questions. Finally had an interview with an executive and HR representative, also very informal. This was more of get to know you interview.

Interview Question – Walk me through your resume. Not hard, but I don't really like taking someone through what got me in the door in the first place.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – Not much negotiation once the offer was made, but the recruiter worked with me a lot to make sure the offer would be what I wanted.
