Assistant Manager (MGT) Interview

Assistant Manager (MGT)

I applied online and the process took 2 days - interviewed at Walgreens in July 2013.

Interview Details – The process involved a Kenexa skills test and then a following interview with a manager. Very straightforward interview with standard questions like what do you know about our company and how you resolved a situation of conflict with another employee. References were asked for at the end of the interview and a phone call was given a couple days after.

Interview Question – What do you consider your greatest strength?   Answer Question

I applied online and the process took 1+ week - interviewed at Walgreens in February 2011.

Interview Details – Walgreens uses behavioral interviewing. They will ask a complex question about how you went out of your way to help a customer or resolved a difference with a fellow employee. And are looking for Situation, Plan, Implementation, Result as an answer and remember to be specific. Use peoples names and places and don't worry about using examples where plans didn't work, those can be good too

Interview Question – Don't let wording get you off your planned responses. Like if you have a great example about a customer interaction and they ask about your most difficult customer interaction. Don't change your answer, change their question. Something like: I don't really see situations like that. I do my best with every customer and here is an example of that. (this is greatly abbreviated btw).   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – You will not be able to ask for more than is offered unless you are coming in as a pharmacist.

I applied online - interviewed at Walgreens in July 2014.

Interview Details – Hiring manager very non attentive during interview. Cell phone went off several times so she missed some answers that were given. It felt like the interview was over before it began. I was very shocked at the unprofessional attitude displayed by someone who holds such a high position there.

Interview Question – Have you ever had to take charge of a project?   Answer Question

I applied online and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Walgreens in July 2011.

Interview Details – Applied online, took a 2hr assessment consisting of math and reading questions. Got a call the next day to schedule an in-person interview with the DM. The interview process was easy, I scored one of the highest on their assessment and their admin called me the very next day to schedule a interview with their DM. Went in for an in-person interview and the DM was late 30 min, she was very unprofessional constantly checking her phone. There was only 10 behavioral/situational questions. Which I felt I did well, but I got a template email the next day saying I didn't get the offer. The template email didn't even have the DM's name on it. I certainly appreciate the timely response. What you put in is often what you get and it is their loss as they did not select the most qualified candidate perhaps afraid that he was over-qualified and may move on shortly. I don't think anyone would have sat through a 2hr assessment and driven another 3hr to the interview if they weren't genuinely interested in the position.

Interview Question – There was only 10 behavioral/situational questions.   Answer Question

I applied online and the process took 2+ weeks - interviewed at Walgreens.

Interview Details – The process has probably changed by now, since the MGT position was eliminated, but I received a call from the district manager, and had two interviews with different store managers before my final interview with the district manager.

Interview Question – There were no unusually hard or unexpected questions.   Answer Question

I applied online and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Walgreens in February 2010.

Interview Details – I applied online and was invited to an interview with the District Manager within 2 weeks. The process was standard behavioral questions based on past experiences, followed by a series of "what if's" ("what if this were to happen"). The DM was unenthusiastic and a tad aggressive with her perfume. The whole thing took about an hour.

Interview Question – I was asked a question which the DM then answered herself, which was unexpected: "You don't think a 40-60 minute commute is unreasonable, do you? No, of course you don't."   View Answer

Negotiation Details – There was no salary negotiation. I was given an offer that I required a 4 week delay on and they agreed with the stipulation that that was all I would ask for.

I applied online and the process took 1 week - interviewed at Walgreens in April 2009.

Interview Details – This was a one time interview in the District Office, which happened to be a 3 hour drive in this case. The interview was not difficult. After a brief thirty minute interview I was sent home. In about a week I received an e-mail that I was being offered a position at a salary of 15.82. This was with never even visiting the store that I would work at, or talking to the manager that I would work for. Unfortunately, this led to a huge personality conflict that made it almost impossible to work, and left a bad taste in my mouth regarding this company.

Interview Question – The most difficult question for me is always the "tell me where you see yourself in 5 years" question.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – There was no negotiation. The offer was the offer and there was no changing it.
