    Assistant Manager (MGT) Interview

I applied online. The process took 2 weeksinterviewed at Walgreens in July 2011.

    Interview Details

Applied online, took a 2hr assessment consisting of math and reading questions. Got a call the next day to schedule an in-person interview with the DM. The interview process was easy, I scored one of the highest on their assessment and their admin called me the very next day to schedule a interview with their DM. Went in for an in-person interview and the DM was late 30 min, she was very unprofessional constantly checking her phone. There was only 10 behavioral/situational questions. Which I felt I did well, but I got a template email the next day saying I didn't get the offer. The template email didn't even have the DM's name on it. I certainly appreciate the timely response. What you put in is often what you get and it is their loss as they did not select the most qualified candidate perhaps afraid that he was over-qualified and may move on shortly. I don't think anyone would have sat through a 2hr assessment and driven another 3hr to the interview if they weren't genuinely interested in the position.

    Assistant Manager Interview

I applied online. The process took 2+ monthsinterviewed at Walgreens in June 2011.

    Interview Details

I had applied for manager in training on the Walgreens website. I stopped in at a local store and was referred to managers on two opposite sides of town, and interviewed with both store managers, two days apart, one on one for a Store Team Lead position. A week later I then interviewed with another store manager, that is impossible to get a hold of in his own store, who is apparantly whom you have to appease to get to the district manager who is in charge of all the salary managers in the north half of Oklahoma City. I was one of twenty-or-so applicants he had to interview, and was supposedly leaving out of town for a week a few days after I saw him. So over a period of 2 weeks of leaving messeges and "stopping in" at a store that's 25 miles out of my way, I finally got an answer that I would be recieving something in the mail that would give me the instructions for my next steps in the hiring process. Never recieved anything.

The store team lead position is the same responsabilites as the assistant manager with the added bonus of being the inventory control specialist for $6 less an hour. And after I fnially recieved a genuine phone call from a completely different manager who wanted to start this process all over again, I had already found another job with a company that seems to have a little better strategy then hire these 10 people, fire 8 of them 2 weeks later and then hire the next 10 who made it through 15 interviews at stores 20 miles away in every direction.

Promotion from HPS. First interview was with a community leader store manager. After that there was interview with the district manager. Can take time between interviews before you hear anything. Don't be discouraged by that. Dress to impress and make sure to bring your resume to both interviews. If you're trying to be promoted from within the company try to know some of your stores KPI's also plan ahead for situational questions about customer service and working with other team memebers. Last thing to do, just make it seem like you love working at Walgreens and want to make a long term career out of it and you'll be a lock.

    Interview Questions
    • What was one time when you got an idea from someone else and used it? Did it work? And did you give credit to the right person?   Answer Question
    Negotiation Details
No negotiation. Starting pay ray varies by district. After six months you get a 50 cent raise, same after another 6 months. Then each year it's a 2.5 percent pay increase. (In most districts)

Hiring process was very simple. However, I did have to make a useless 2 hour drive for a meeting with a store manager that lasted all of 6 minutes. All in all, seamless and simple process to complete.

I applied online. The process took 1+ weekinterviewed at Walgreens in February 2011.

    Interview Details

Walgreens uses behavioral interviewing. They will ask a complex question about how you went out of your way to help a customer or resolved a difference with a fellow employee. And are looking for Situation, Plan, Implementation, Result as an answer and remember to be specific. Use peoples names and places and don't worry about using examples where plans didn't work, those can be good too

    Interview Questions
    • Don't let wording get you off your planned responses. Like if you have a great example about a customer interaction and they ask about your most difficult customer interaction. Don't change your answer, change their question. Something like: I don't really see situations like that. I do my best with every customer and here is an example of that. (this is greatly abbreviated btw).   Answer Question
    Negotiation Details
You will not be able to ask for more than is offered unless you are coming in as a pharmacist.

The interview was straight to the point. All the questions that were asked was more personality questions. Recieved a call from the Community Leader about a week later offering a position. Was very suprised and happy to get an offer. The process began with an online application, a skills and personality test on a computer with basic math and other questions. Once you complete that I interviewed with 2 Community Leaders ( who are Store Managers over a couple of stores). I got a call a few days later stating that I was being offered a position.

Thought the interviewing process was pretty simple, sent in my resume online, got a call a few weeks later talking about setting up an interview. The interview went pretty well, and this was my first interview ever. The guy was very relaxed, asking straight forward questions, never really making me feel stressed out. Often times we would just talk about random events or what happened in college. Overall, i enjoyed it.
