Front End Cashier Interview

Application Details

I applied online. The process took 5 weeksinterviewed at Walmart in July 2012.

Interview Details

I filled out an application online 2 weeks prior and was called around 11am to come in for an interview at 1pm. I had them move it to the same time the next day. I arrived 15 minutes early and waited for 25 minutes. My first interview went okay, about 20 minutes, it was with the Front End Manager and the manager of Apparel, both friendly. I then was told to wait, which was another 15-20 minutes, then I had an interview with two higher up managers. One was very rude and paid no attention to me or my answers and constantly interrupted by talking to every person walking by in the hallway. The other paid close attention and looked irritated by the other manager. Afterwards I was told that they'd call me back within the next few days to come in for more interviews. I called twice a week every week to follow up for 3 weeks. It's been a month, and I've moved on to better opportunities. Also, when it comes to their interview questions they would hassle me for extremely detailed answers, and if I'd never been in the situation they had me make up an answer.

I applied online – interviewed at Walmart in December 2011.

    Interview Details

I had a little bit of pull from one of my former managers that had transferred from the Greensburg, PA store to the North Huntingdon, PA store. I helped to set up the store and was there through the grand opening staying for 3 years total between the two stores. 1 year at the Greensburg store and 2 years at the North Huntingdon store. I had only one interview and they called me back the next day to hire me in lawn and garden. I had a choice of either lawn and garden or sporting goods but I chose lawn and garden because I was in that department in the other store and had experience. I was in that department for a year and then transfered to cashier at the front-end because it was easier on my body after lifting so many shelves and pallets and heavy boxes like furniture.

    Interview Questions
    • The most difficult question for me ever in an interview question is when they ask me what I would do in various scenarios because I don't know if the company is lokking for a particular answer or how I personally would handle each situation.   View Answer

I didn't really negotiate anything. I went through the interview, answered the questions to the best of my ability and got called back and hired the next day.

The process took 3 daysinterviewed at Walmart in June 2010.

    Interview Details

Before being hired on at wal mart there is a three interview process. Each interview was a one on one interview. First with a zone manager, than assistant manager, than the store manager. The first two interviews consisted of a series of questions conserning past work experience, any problems within past work environment, different situations and how you handled them. These interviews were sort of laid back and as long as a person just presents themselfs in a professional manner and answered the questions honestly and in a timely manner these two interview went rather fast. Both of the interviewers in this process were extremely nice and threw in some friendly banter after the questions were over. The third interview was the job offer with no real questions directed at you but gave you an opertunity to ask anything before excepting the job and starting the paper work.

    Interview Questions
    • Describe in your past work experience a time when you lead your team or took a leadership role and suceeded in your task.   Answer Question
    • How would you handle a situation when and if you caught your boss in a lie?   Answer Question
    Negotiation Details
During my hiring process there was no real nefotiating going on. Wal mart has their computer system figure your wage based on passed work experience and a points system so that no two employees wages are alike. Hours and availability can all be negotiated.
