Quite honestly, my husband was a district manager. And I had worked for Walmart before. So when we found out they were building a new store close to us (we had just gotten transferred to this state), my husband talked to the store manager and got the interview set up. I had the experience...but if there is a wife of upper management, that especially needs a job because of a transfer, they will get it 90% of the time, as long as they are somewhat qualified. There were a few "better" office type jobs-but they were already filled. So I settled for this one until a lady left in the cash office (she had already said she would leave within 6 months) I had 3 interviews. One with personnel. One with a few assistant managers, and one with "the" store manager. I had lived and breathed Walmart since marrying my husband-so there was no problem for me. Typical questions on integrity, being on time, right and wrong, etc. You do have to take a drug test.

You have an initial PHONE REVIEW. Pretty simple. they want to know a bit about your background and why you want to work for walmart. Same formal interview as many companies. Next is a virtual green job interview with about 9 questions, you get to do over so its pretty easy. They want to know how you handled previous projects.

The Interviewing process was smooth and easy. The people were very nice. I was flown out to the HQ and had the interview the next day. They gave a presentation on the culture, we went on tour to see the Wal-Mart campus, and NW Arkansas. We even visited Sam Walton's old office. It ended up being a panel interview. More conversational than anything.

I honestly only met the core managers, and the general store managers. Although I personally witnessed more managers as I got more acclimated. I then realized that there was a hierarchy and some type of internal social club.

I worked for a Walmart Neighborhood Market as a cashier and was interested in moving up by transferring to a new Supercenter being built. I called Home Office about the new store, and they had the store contact me for an interview. I was paid for my mileage to come to the site (since I am already an associate). I was greeted and signed in. Then I waited in a room to be called. Two people interviewed me together. The questions were lengthy questions that asked about how I have responded to certain situations in my past work experience.

I applied online. The process took 5 daysinterviewed at Walmart.

I received a call from the personnel associate and she asked me if I could go in for an interview in a few days in the morning (8 AM). I attended the interview wearing office attire, and my interviewer was the Front End Zone Manager. She ran through her questions and she basically made a decision on the spot. She said that she would like to give me a second interview and asked if I had some time for it right then. I was then taken to the Assistant Managers office and had an interview with the Front End Assistant Manager. He went into more personal details about myself. After that, the ZS took me back to personnel where that associate gave me my drug test form and had me go take it immediately. I did everything in the same day and a few days later I got called in for orientation. I dressed pretty fancy but the other people in my group just wore nice jeans and a plain shirt (pretty casual).

I applied through other source. The process took a weekinterviewed at Walmart in March 2014.

    Interview Details

I was called in for an interview. I went thinking that it would be an one-on-one session but it turned to be group hiring event. Was called in for a second interview where i was asked questions by three walmart employees. Most of the interviewers seemed sincere and they appeared to like working for walmart. It was stated in the group hiring event that most of the hiring managers present on that day began as sales associates.

    Interview Questions
    • Most of the questions there seemed pretty standard. Such as: name an instance when you had to figure things out that were outside your daily or normal duties.   Answer Question

Interviews were held at a Hiring Center because they were opening a new store and needed 300 employees. They hired anyone who passed the drug test and background check. 95% of the people hired had never worked for Walmart. All the Salaried Managers were perky and pleasant during the interviews. The HR manager was perfect for the job.

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeksinterviewed at Walmart.

    Interview Details

I had already interviewed for the position before and lost out to someone with more experience and history in the store. I sat down with the current Assistant Manager who asked me prepared questions from a corporate printed packet for the specific position. Each was based on a specific competency for the position and related to requirements for the job. As I answered the questions my answers were rated on a scale of 1-5 with anything below three on any one question giving me an automatic fail. The questions were for specific examples of completing major projects on my own, flexibility when given short notice, handling interpersonal difficulties, exceeding customer service, fixing issues within my area and resolving problems outside of my area.
