to be honest I have been to two interviews for walmart in the last three months and i fill I'm not getting the job because i live to far, i was kind of told that in the last interview. i don't mind being ask question at all, but men don't give women that same time frame as they do men.I know I'm up in Age middle age but they look at you and see only one thing she's going to be slow or maybe can't do the job. That's how i felt walking out after the interview. and that's not me I love working and i love being at my job.

It was typical interview. They asked the 55 basic questions.
They really focus on how to handle angry customers and conflict resolution while still wanting you to maintain company policy.

    Interview Questions
    • The most difficult or unexpected question had to be How would you handle an customer who was trying to use an improper coupon but insisted that you were in the wrong?
I tried my best to remember the customer is always right yet company policy does not allow one to simply override the system.

Interview was typical background/tell me about yourself questions. Talked to hiring manager about the positions available and what kind of work I've done in the past. I submitted an application through the website and got called back two weeks later for an opening at a different location than I applied for.

I put in an online application three weeks ago...and I was called in for an interview. The interviewer was an assistant manager to the department that was looking for potential employees...the interview went well...he asked about six questions regarding scenarios about different situations dealing with customers..ex. Tell me about a time you had to deal with an irate customer and how did you handle it? Then he told me he would like to set me up with a second interview...the second interview was with an assistant store manager...that went very well..he asked me similar questions..Im waiting on the third interview..hope I get the job.

The interview process was very good. I was not as intimidated, they were really friendly and actually listened. They asked questions I could easily answer. They listened intently to what I was saying and actually paid attention. They seemed genuinely interested in what I had to say.

When Store #5218 first opened I obtained a job here. Surprisingly Walmart's interviewing process is quite thorough. There was an ethical assessment, drug test, and other standards but they asked pointed questions. They tried to demonstrate that they took hiring employees seriously. However, years later they became slack in the interview process. They would rehire associates that had committed crimes and were arrested there at Walmart (which is okay, but it makes the company look bad). They had new CSM's who would not train cashiers to reuse bags and for a week we ran out of bags and had to use the larger bags which have a lower tensile strength. All of these issues have since, I suspect, changed since I was there, however. But if I were to do it again, I would have asked specifically what would be my expectations for gaining entry to higher positions once I was hired from a lower position.

    Interview Questions
    • It was actually not as relaxed as I thought. I don't remember specific questions but they take it seriously at the interview.   Answer Question

You don't call them, they call you. I went in the first interview with a pretty open availability, they seemed to like me and asked me to stay for a second. They DO contact references, but then they called me in for a third. I've heard and it felt like if you've made it that far, you're in. So long as you pass a drug/background check.

I applied online. The process took 4 weeksinterviewed at Walmart in July 2014.

    Interview Details

I applied on-line in June 2014 and was interviewed twice in July 2014. I first received a call from the personnel manager to set it up.You will also deal with them with the job offer and orientation. The personnel manager was very kind and easy to talk with.

My first interview was with a member from CSM. Even though she was really tense, I still felt relax during the interview and did my best. This was my first job. I even made her laugh and really laugh when I kept trying to get out. I tried to go through four doors to get out. She tried to get the manager in charge of the front end to interview me immediately, but he was busy. We set it up for the next day.

The next day interview was with the front end manager, another CSM, and another manager. I did my best and they all seemed to like my answers, which were the same was the interview the day before.

Stay calm, Walmart wants to see that you can remain calm in a stressful situation, especially when being a cashier. So be yourself, pretend that you are talking to old friends and they are asking weird questions so they can know you better and to make sure the job is right for you.

There is a drug test after the job offer that has to be completed within 24 hours. There is no math or grammar tests. There is a personality questionnaire with the application when filling it out on-line.

    Interview Questions
    • "Describe a time when you had to do a task, step-by-step."   Answer Question
    Negotiation Details
The negation phrase was here is your pay. The pay was decent, for me, it was $8.65/ hr. Not too bad in my opinion. They discussed benefits I would receive on the day you will start orientation.

Got an interview after 2 days of applying and got hired on the spot. The interview itself was straight forward. That was probably because I got rejected from 3 job interviews before this and I learned from them instead of repeating the same mistakes. Failure is a key component to success in anything you do.

    Interview Questions
    • There was no difficult question. I know modesty is an important thing but in job interviews you brag about yourself until you can't brag anymore. That's how you get a job   Answer Question
