Customer Service Associate Interview

I applied online and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Wawa in September 2012.

Interview Details – First is a phone interview, and then an in person interview, and then online training. The phone interview is very simple, and the questions asked in person are easy enough as long as thought is provided behind each response.

Interview Question – What is an example of a time you had to problem solve in a group setting where you were the leader?   Answer Question

I applied online and the process took 3 days - interviewed at Wawa in January 2014.

Interview Details – Put in online application and got a call back for a phone interview which was conducted. The manager said they need a background check( which mine is clean, never had issues with the law and have a permit to carry) which will take about three days and they haven't call me back yet and that was two weeks ago.

General Manager Interview

I applied online and the process took 3+ months - interviewed at Wawa in February 2014.

Interview Details – Process was very slow. Entire process took 3 months and one week and I still would have needed to go through one more interview. Their interview process consists of someone sitting opposite you and reading questions off of a paper. They never ask for further details nor do they ask follow up questions. They do not take in account your work history and all that you have done. They did not call references. Apparently any Joe Shmo without a college education can conduct one of these interviews with a piece of paper and a pencil. I give great interviews, was a senior manager for a large company managing over 20 million dollars a year in business, promoted 12 of my managers that worked for me but yet they didn't think I could manage one convenience store.

Interview Question – None of the questions were difficult. Standard questions. "Tell me about a time when you......" No unique questions to try and find out about your personality, what your interests are.   Answer Question

Store Associate Interview

I applied online and the process took 2 days - interviewed at Wawa in May 2013.

Interview Details – A few weeks after applying online, the manager called me to set up an interview. The first interview was very relaxed. I was only asked "tell me about yourself" and why I wanted to work there. The second interview was with a different manager and more in-depth, with a lot of behavioral questions, "tell me about a time when...", questions about my work experience, etc. Overall it wasn't bad.

Management Interview

Management
Toms River, NJ

The process took a day - interviewed at Wawa in July 2011.

Interview Details – I was called by who I believe was a district manager to interview for a manager position. I missed his initial call, but called him back as soon as possible, a few hours later. He answered the phone and thanked me for calling him back. He said he was very happy that I had returned his call as he was interested in knowing more about my previous work experience, as I had previously worked in a management position with a large dining services corporation. I began telling him about my previous employment, when he interrupted me to say that he had just ran a background check on, during our phone conversation, and that he could no longer continue the conversation and would have to end the call. I said "I'm sorry?" and he again said that he would have to end the call. I asked him what had happened and he said he could not see any additional information on his computer other than that the phone call would have to end. He provided me with the name of the background check company that they use, said the background check company would be mailing me something, thanked me again for returning his call and apologized, and then hung up. I was baffled, as I have never been arrested, been to court for anything other than a minor traffic violation over 10 years ago, and I've never had any legal troubles. I was very concerned with his inability to provide me any details, and his abrupt end to our conversation, so in a panic, I purchased a background check from the company he said that they used (Acxiom). The background check that I purchased from the same company came back clear. I'm still very confused about everything that had happened, and I'm extremely dissatisfied with how the situation was handled by my interviewer, regarding the lack of information that I was provided, and the abrupt end to the call. Furthermore, federal law states that I need to be notified as to the reason that I am not eligible for a position with a company based on my background information prior to the company notifying me that I am not eligible because of the results of a background check - this protocol clearly did not take place properly.

The process took a day - interviewed at Wawa in October 2009.

Interview Details – A relatively simple one on one interview. Exactly what you would expect from a place like Wawa. Lady was nice, but I botched a couple of the behavioral questions.

I recommend coming up with various interesting situations before hand that you can pull out if you get stuck. This will result in you looking much better as if you can quickly think on your feet.
