Very Easy Interview

Personal Banker I (SAFE) Interview

Personal Banker I (SAFE)
Madison, WI

I applied online and the process took 5 days - interviewed at Wells Fargo in November 2013.

Interview Details – During my application they asked a questionnaire, right after they said they'll be scheduling a phone interview. It was quite quick. For the phone interview they asked pretty standard questions about my work history and why I'd be a good fit at Wells Fargo. After the phone interview, I was asked when would be a best time to setup a face to face interview. I only had one face interview, it went very well, thy asked more about my work history, plus about how my sales performance has been in the passed. Just like any company that is looking to make a profit they ask about sales performance. An hour later I was called for a job offer.

Interview Question – Most unexpected question was how I would be able to bring in foot traffic. Not that it's something you wouldn't do trying to bring in business. However, the first time I've been asked this in a interview.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – Simple, I didn't negotiate because the offer was better than expected.

I applied online and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Wells Fargo.

Interview Details – I applied online, received a phone interview with an out of town recruiter to set up an interview 4 days later. I attended an interview with 4 store managers (no pressure haha) and they each took turns asking questions. I received a call 1 week later with an offer pending background check and approval from upper management for an overhire. I got a call the following Monday with the official offer and details for salary. Salary was more than expected as I had no banking experience, so I did not negotiate. Overall an easy process.

Interview Question – Typical sales and customer service questions.....i.e. how did you go above and beyond for a customer, how do you handle difficult customers, how do you reach your goals on a slow day.....   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – N/A

I applied online and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Wells Fargo in April 2014.

Interview Details – I applied online, took a behavioral/personality test online and was invited to schedule a phone interview within a week. The phone interview was with a recruiter - pretty standard questions with a couple specifics regarding my sales ability and performance, etc. The interviewer seemed a bit hostile, but otherwise it was pretty easy. The same day I was scheduled for an in-person interview with the manager at an In-Store location.

The location took me a little off guard. The "traditional' banks are stand alone retail banking centers, 'in-store' means inside of an actual grocery store. I was interviewed by a manager and assistant manager; who were less than enthusiastic in conducting the interview to say the least. Generally got the feeling these guys were not interested in conducting an interview, they mostly just ran through the sheet asking questions back to back without much of a break or looking up at me. They ask a lot of very specific questions regarding your sales performance. Be prepared to give multiple specific examples about how you personally helped increase revenue and how you are able to work in a team to drive productivity and growth. Aside from the demeanor of the managers the interview went well. I was called with an offer a few days later.

Interview Question – I was asked to role-play a sales call, which wasn't completely unexpected. However, it was pretty on the spot. I wasn't given a context or a moment to prepare, just jumped right into it.   Answer Question

Reason for Declining – The offer was far too low for me to consider. After a little over a day of negotiation they hardly budged even though I exceeded experience and education requirements. Additionally, everyone I interviewed with seemed a bit hostile and passive aggressive, so I didn't think I would enjoy working there.
