Student Mentor - Faculty Interview

Student Mentor - Faculty
Salt Lake City, UT

I applied online and the process took 1 week - interviewed at Western Governors University in March 2014.

Interview Details – Phone interview was concise and informative. Set up for in person interview was effective and information given was helpful. In person interview seemed to go off very well...however interviewer was moving to new position...so follow up was complicated.

Interviewed at Western Governors University

Interview Details – Questionable practices -- required date of high school graduation as well as college graduation to complete the online application. Received immediate "thanks but no thanks" although I had over 5 years' online teaching experience. I believe I experienced age discrimination, as I am over 40.

Interview Question – I was very surprised to have "date of graduation" and "years of total work experience" as required questions on the online interview. Potential age discrimination.   View Answer

I applied online and the process took 4+ weeks - interviewed at Western Governors University.

Interview Details – Phone interview and then face to face interview.

The interviewer for the face to face interview yawned during the entire interview. He also seemed bored and uninterested during the entire interview, which made the interview awkward. Followed by another phone interview with Program Managers and Associate Provost.

Interview Question – Questions were fairly standard.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – No negotiation. They had a range and either the General Manager or Associate Provost decided which side of the range to give you.

I applied online and the process took 6+ weeks - interviewed at Western Governors University.

Interview Details – All 4 interviews went great, even was told how well I woudl fit into the company. Last interview, acted like I pretty much had the job just had to wait for the phone call. When it was finally said and done, a month later I received a generic e-mail that said that I did not get the job. I was shocked! I have continue to apply and hope to get another interview soon. Not sure what happened.

Interview Question – Nothing really, the entire interview process was typical questions and very comfortbale overall.   Answer Question
