    1. Online application - only had to fill in a standard form and provide transcript plus resume, there were no questions to answer nor was there a need to attach a cover letter
    2. Online assessments - contained the usual numerical, verbal and logical reasoning as well as a behavioural assessment
    3. Video Interview - non behavioural style questions
    4. Assessment Centre - interview, group activity, individual presentation

    Interview Questions
    • The interview was fairly relaxed, all behavioural type questions but the individual presentation was quite hard especially with the time constraint   Answer Question

    Application Details

I applied online. The process took 4+ weeksinterviewed at Westpac Banking in July 2014.

    Interview Details

The process was well facilitated using online interview system after a series of psychometric testing. The interview questions were relatively general. The online interview system did seem to have a few audio issues, however this wasn't too big of an issue.

    Application Details

I applied in-person – interviewed at Westpac Banking in May 2014.

    Interview Details

Secured the interview by meeting a representative of Westpac in person. It took a little while to hear back, but they are very nice and polite. Only 2 interviews, both with 2 interviewers each.

    Interview Questions
    • Asked mainly questions related to extra-curricular activities, and such. Very few leading questions, so I'd suggest you know what you want to say and be sure to say it without expecting any prompts.   Answer Question

    Learning and Development Manager Interview

    Application Details

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeksinterviewed at Westpac Banking in October 2012.

    Interview Details

Went through a specialist recruiter to meet two people from the L&D Team in the Retail area. One was a manager and the other an instructional designer. I found out about the position through a recruiter that specialises in the HR area and had some contacts at Westpac. Going through a recruiter helped me to understand the background of the role and the background of the person interviewing me.

    Customer Contact Centre Interview

    Application Details

I applied online – interviewed at Westpac Banking in September 2012.

    Interview Details

The process involves an assessment session, and then if you are successful you are asked to return for an interview. It is a group assessment in which you're required to perform a role play, and also take part in a group discussion assessment. The two recruitment staff sit with a pen and paper, writing constantly about how you're performing in the group discussion. You then have to perform a presentation based on the group findings. You also have to analyze a call and state your opinions on what could be improved.

Overall, this was excessive, considering the fact that you have to then come in for another interview afterwards if you are considered a good candidate. If you're not, you've gone to the effort of spending 3 hours there, wearing a suit, putting up with their nonsense, listening to how great the company is and how happy you'll be there, just to be told that you're not even worthy of an actual interview.

    Interview Questions
    • The group discussion assessment was incredibly demeaning and seemingly unnecessary for a call centre position. I was informed one week after the interview that I would not be invited in for an interview as I had not performed well enough in this part of the assessment.   Answer Question

    Westpac CIB Graduate Program Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Sydney (Australia)
    Application Details

The process took a dayinterviewed at Westpac Banking in April 2010.

    Interview Details

I applied to the Corporate and Institutional Banking Program.
    Recruitment process:

    - Online application
    - Reasoning and numerical test
    - Phone Interview
    - Assessment Centre.

Online application featured 1 question about what extra curricular activities you're involved in and how that contributes to Westpac.
The reasoning and numerical test consists of a moderately difficult maths based test, and one of those shapes (which is the missing shape) test. Practice is probably recommended for the shapes test.
The phone interview consists of 3 questions.
HR are quite friendly on the phone, and are quite understanding in how nervous applicants can be.

    Interview Questions
    • Why do you want to join Westpac, what can you offer, and why are you interested in your division?   Answer Question
    • Name a time where you demonstrated customer service that went beyond the customer's needs i.e. When have you done something over and above what was required for the customer?   Answer Question
    • Describe a stressful situation that you were thrown into without any preparation and how you coped.   Answer Question

Headhunted then went through 3 interviews with one panel interview. Then heard nothing further - not even a thanks but no thanks. So unprofessional both from the Headhunter and BT Management. Absolute waste of my time.
