Application Details

I applied online. The process took a dayinterviewed at Whole Foods Market.

Interview Details

I filled out an application online, and then I attended a job fair. There were a large number of candidates who were at the fair. We all took a screening interview with one manager, and if we passed that, we had a second interview with the head of the department we desired to work in. The second interview was about the same or a bit longer than the first.

Interview Questions
  • An unexpected questions was where i shopped besides food markets or shops. I said bookstores since I love to read, and English was my major.   Answer Question

I applied online. The process took 3+ monthsinterviewed at Whole Foods Market in September 2012.

    Interview Details

I applied almost 2 months before I got a call so I really wasn't expecting it! I was interviewed by two managers, separately. They were both very laid back and friendly, which helped with my confidence throughout the interview. They told me that I would be contacted again within the next couple of weeks about an orientation date.

I have to say the whole interview went great until they asked me to list any 2 consecutive days I would need off for the next 9 months! I was not prepared for this at all. They weren't very patient about me calling my family to see when I should ask off for Christmas.

Things to be prepared for: have your availability planned out for the next 9 months, research basic information about the store (know it's values), and just be laid back and happy.

    Interview Questions
    • The only question that threw me off was: "Define a sense of urgency." I asked him what he meant after thinking about it for some time and he said, "For example, when the store is really busy."   View Answer

unlike others, there was no negotiation process. he just handed me a piece of paper with the hourly wage of $10 and said, "this is the starting wage, by signing here you agree to this wage." It didn't seem like a negotiation to me and I didn't want to risk it since I've been unemployed for some time.

I applied online. The process took a weekinterviewed at Whole Foods Market in July 2012.

    Interview Details

I applied online and about 3 days later received a phone call and had a brief 3 minute phone interview. I was then offered the actual interview which was 2 days later. The interview was about 15 mins and was pretty easy. I interviewed with the Customer Service Team Leader and a Customer Service Supervisor. They were pretty cool and laid back which eased my nervousness. I received a phone call the next day saying I got the job and to come in and complete my paperwork for the hiring process.

I had applied online 2 weeks prior then went to the Union Square, NYC store with my friends to use their bathroom. As we're waiting my friend asks an employee if we can speak to someone about jobs and I got the hiring person in front of me. I write my name down for her & she conducted a short phone interview 2 hours later. Interview scheduled for the next few days..

I applied online. The process took 2 daysinterviewed at Whole Foods Market in February 2011.

    Interview Details

Applied online, contacted by phone to come in for first interview with the Assoc. Team Leader (ATL), Customer Service. Interview was 1:1 in the cafe. Questions loosely followed a written script. ATL wrote down some of my responses. Questions were mostly focused on relevant customer service experience (I have over 10 years) and general knowledge about WFM. Very important is your availability during store hours (I was available all shifts/all days). At the end of the interview he invited me to come back the next day to meet with the Team Leader, Customer Service and he explained that WFM has a 3 step interview process. The second interview was 1:1 with the Team Leader (TL) in the cafe. He also had a script but didn't really use it. TL didn't write down any of my responses and I believe he had made up his mind almost instantly, which is unfortunate. Neither interviewer had read my application or resume in advance, be prepared to give your 2 minute elevator speech if you want to showcase your experience. The TL on the second interview asked a few questions about customer service, your best/your worst experience with a customer, what defines excellent customer service? and a little bit about WFM. Mostly wanted to know practical information such as: Can you lift 50 lbs? Can you work by the door in the cold? Can you stand for the entire shift? Can you attend our 6 am meetings once per month? Are you willing to flex into other areas in the store? Are you able to work inventory? (I responded affirmatively to all questions). TL told me they would contact me for 3rd interview with the Asst. Store Leader if they were interested, but apparently he wasn't. The next day I received a message from another employee that the position was to be filled by another candidate. No other feedback was given. My impression is that you should focus on "clicking" with the interviewer's personality. It's possible he wanted a younger candidate.?
