    Application

I applied online. The process took 2+ weeksinterviewed at Xantrion.

    Interview

I applied to the position on Craigslist. Within a week of applying I received an email with initial steps of applying. A phone interview was set up and if you did well during that, they set up a Skype interview with you (for applicants that live outside of the area). During that interview, I met with 3 different people that work for the company. I was then contacted about a week after that for them to fly me out and meet everybody. That was a great experience and if you get that far, you should be good to go.

    Interview Questions

    Negotiation

They offer top notch benefits. The negotiation process was very straightforward and they made a very solid offer.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeksinterviewed at Xantrion (Oakland, CA) in September 2012.

    Interview

I found the job posting online through Craigslist ad and sent my resume to the HR email from the ad. I then received a brief phone call/interview asking some basic IT questions. (If you are applying for this job you should know these no problem.) I then received a second phone call/interview asking questions about myself, why I wanted to move to the Bay area, etc. Once that was over I was given a personality/IQ assessment test online and received the results a few days later. The next step was a Skype interview the owners of the company and a first line supervisor. This was questions about myself all the way to technical questions from the COO. After this I was invited to fly out to Oakland for an in person interview, on the company's dime which was nice. After lunch with the owner and a few consultants we talked more and I was offered a position. They were very willing to negotiate with me (pay, moving allowance, etc.) and were VERY accommodating to my requested start date. I then went back home a week later and took a drug test and finished my background screen and now am working at Xantrion. Overall, it was a long process but definitely worth it.

    Negotiation

They were definitely willing to negotiate and accomodate my needs. I was very happy with the process. I would have like a little better starting pay but am very pleased by their overall benefits package.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ weekinterviewed at Xantrion (Oakland, CA) in August 2012.

    Interview

I found a job posting on Craigslist and sent in my application/cover letter. I received a phone call from an HR rep who was exceptionally friendly on the phone, and who asked a series of basic technical questions (e.g. what port is HTTP, what is a router). A few days later, I was contacted to set up an in-person interview the next week with two managerial employees. One conducted more of a technical interview, and the other was more concerned with people-to-people skills. Afterwards, I took a logic and personality test. The next day, I was called to return for a final interview. There were two interviewers, and after the interview I was offered a position.

    Interview

I heard about Xantrion through CraigsList and submitted my application. About a week after doing so, I was contacted by them and scheduled a brief phone interview. The phone interview consisted of a few brief technical questions and last about 15 minutes. immediately following this interview I was scheduled for a face-to-face interiview at their office in Oakland. During the meeting I met with 3 seperate individuals whom asked me a few more question and then showed me around the office. Overall it was a positive and pleasant experience

    Interview Questions

    Negotiation

The negotiation phase was quick but fair. I was given as much time as needed to move after I was given an offer which was the most important thing to me. Make your intentions and expectations clear and you will be taken seriously

    Interview

I applied to their campus placement position for the system admin position although I may even be qualified for network admin. The biggest frustration is not getting a chance to even prove all the experience and the knowledge I have. I was phone screened and asked the standard 10 questions they asked. Then after about a week I was called to schedule a Caliper Personality assessment Online test onsite. Just for a simple test of 1 hr they make you drive so many hours like crazy. Again, the test is objective based test and they tell you it would take 2 days for the results. What a lie!!! Then I received an email saying they are pursuing candidates who have more relevant background to the requirements of the position but I had no technical interview, any formal review or even discussion about my technical skills. So how would they know through a personality test about my technical skills/ It does not make any sense. I have 3+ yrs of networking experience, a good personality and a very eloquent way to handle customers. I am not sure what more close aligned candidates is Xantrion looking for? For Xantrion Hr- If you can distinguish candidates based on their resume or even give them a chance to prove their technical mettle, you probably need to take HR classes from a better school.

    Interview

As is common, having a referral is the fastest way to get noticed. Once your resume has been reviewed by a non-technical HR personnel, you will undergo an informal phone interview, which consists of some very basic (but necessary!) technical questions, such as: what is DHCP, what is DNS, how do you check/check IP address in windows from command line, etc. If you can answer these basic network-related questions, you'll most likely move onto the web-based personality test. If invited for an in-person interview, you'll travel to their offices in Oakland where you'll meet the COO, a potential colleague, and your potential manager. An offer, if all goes well, will follow in a few days. Over all, the process was very quick, relative to most others, but didn't feel rushed. You will learn a lot just by interviewing and you will appreciate the attention to detail. All interactions with the company was pleasant and professional. TIP: Get a referral or submit your resume in-person when they attend College events. They tend to coordinate with any Information System clubs on campus. If they don't go to your campus yet, you can coordinate with them to come down!

    Interview Questions

    • Explain the flow of DNS in detail. What is DNS, how does it work locally, how does it work on the Internet, what happens if a system cannot resolve a URL, etc. Also, you'll have to trouble shoot why a Workstation cannot connect to the internet. There is no final answer but you'll have to show your troubleshooting skills.   Answer Question
