    Interview

I first got an email inviting me to A group interview that required everyone to work in teams creating activities for the kids and solving issues together. The interviewer would then point out good ideas discussed and criticize bad ideas. I then received an email to have a phone interview the week following to discuss my experience with children

    Application

I applied online. The process took 4+ monthsinterviewed at YMCA in January 2015.

    Interview

Applied in August 2014. Called for 15 minute phone interview January 2015. I was a bit surprised by the phone call given the time between submitting the application and the call. Anyway, typical behavorial questions during the phone interview. "Describe a time where you had to deal with an uncomfortable situtation. How did you handle it?"

At the end of the 15 minute interview with the hiring manager, I was told to expect an email to give permission to conduct a background check. I received the email six days later.

    Interview

They were extremely lax in the process and yet very strategic in what type of person they wanted so it was unclear when talking to the people. They had the interview in a back closet sitting among the school supplies. The interviewer didn't seem to be all there and asked rapid fire questions without seeming to listen. It seemed like she had already made up her mind upon meeting me whether or not she would be willing to hire.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeksinterviewed at YMCA (Fort Lauderdale, FL).

    Interview

Interview was unprofessional. Two interviewers were in the interview and one was texting the whole time while asking questions and the other one took a phone call and left the room, and never returned. It seemed like I never had their undivided attention from the start. They mainly asked behavioral questions and the interview did not last longer than 15 minutes. After the interview, they tell you that they will be in contact with you via ApplicantOne (their online application server) in less than 14 days. It took about a week to get a response from them. They told me they found another person for the job, although if they offered it to me I probably would not have taken it due to how unprofessional the interview went.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeksinterviewed at YMCA in November 2014.

    Interview

I've seen some bad interviewers before, but this one had to be the worst. I walked in and was instructed to sit down on a bench. Interviewer was late by close to half an hour. This didn't take place in an office, quiet area or anywhere semi private- it literally took place in the entry way of the building. After introducing myself, the first thing I was told was that an internal applied but they had to interview at least 5 people so corp. was satisfied. At that point, I knew I was completely wasting my time. Then I was told the job posting "changed" changed from full time salary to working 2 days per month because it was (again) made to fit the internal. On the phone I was told that we would tour the building, explaining job duties and meet each dept. supervisor- huge lie, as it never happened. Would not recommend this company to ANYONE.

  9.

    Interview

Lots of, "What do I do on my spare time..?" Questions which focus on the potential employee's personal life.
The hiring process wasn't very lengthy. It was a standard background check and drug test. However, in order to clock in or use the computer for crucial work related tasks you need a Daxko ID number which wasn't given to me for about 3 weeks. This made my job very tedious for that time, but other than that it was a seamless transition to this new job.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeksinterviewed at YMCA (Colorado Springs, CO) in October 2014.

    Interview

Very organized process. Applied online, received email confirmation with application deadline and approximate time frames for interviews. Received a call a week after application closing for a phone interview. A few days later was given a face-to-face interview date and time. 3 days later, I received a call from the COO whom I would have reported to that he wanted to personally let me know that the only other applicant was offered the position. The Y handled the process outstandingly and the interview team was very friendly.

    Interview Questions

    • Since this was for a mid/senior level position, I was not surprised by any of the questions. This position focused on retaining and growing memberships, so I did my homework in reviewing the Y's website in great detail and learn all that I could about non-profit membership related challenges via Google searches.   Answer Question

    Application

I applied online. The process took 4+ weeksinterviewed at YMCA (Seattle, WA) in October 2014.

    Interview

I applied online. I then heard from the person a month later for a phone interview. They brought me in for a panel interview two weeks later. The process took about 4-6 weeks. I think that was pretty long for a part time job. For the most part, the panel was nice. There was one woman who seemed shocked that I did Crossfit which I found rather odd.

    Interview Questions

    • Sell me this membership? What do you know about the Y? Tell me about a difficult situation? Where do you see yourself in 5 years?   Answer Question
