Former Employee - Club Manager in Los Angeles, CA
Former Employee - Club Manager in Los Angeles, CA

I worked at 24 Hour Fitness full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    - High compensation for club managers especially with bonus (up to 60% of salary)
    - Significant autonomy for club managers to run their business as they see fit
    - High expectations for results
    - Tons of opportunity for upward mobility, not based on tenure or resume
    - Very fair assessments of talent (if you produce results, you rank highly)
    - Fun enviornment for those who are passionate about fitness and hitting sales goals

    Cons

    - Very few club managers bonus
    - Large amount of time spent directly selling (at times can feel like less of a leadership role)
    - Very little growth opportunities after the club manager role
    - Management is supportive of vacations, but I only had 15 days of paid vacation a year after 7 years of employment

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do not turn the general managers into salespeople. Allow them to focus on leading and developing a team, while still maintaining a sales culture.
