I have been working at AMA full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

They aim for work/life balance. Beautiful new building with lots of ammenities. I feel I am contributing to the mission of improving healthcare in America -- a noble goal.

    Cons

Layers upon layers of bureaucracy, although I’ve found the same at other non-profit associations. Much time is spent writing reports simply for the sake writing reports. Leadership is out of touch and stuck in the 80’s. If they don’t find a way to connect with younger physicians, it will be the end of this organization.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Bring in younger, more in-touch management, and those who have worked in Associations prior. It is a unique set of challenges.
