I have been working at AT&T full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The career opportunities are great for someone willing to learn fast, work hard and above all be willing to move. I have worked the network side for more than 25 years and have loved most jobs I had. Twice I had to move in order to maintain my employment, but it was worth it in the long run. AT&T salaries are top notch, especially in management. The longer you work the better the money and the more vacation days you accrue... up to five weeks with an additional six days personal time. Tuition assistance is great and the medical is pretty good.

    Cons

Look out for the "good old boy" attitudes amongst some of the upper managers. Their views can be sometimes closed minded and archaic which can have a demoralizing effect on the employees. It has gotten better in the last few years thanks to a particular VP who was brought in and seemed to drag the "boys" kicking and screaming into the 21st century.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep looking forward to the workplace of the future. It is a great concept and keeps your managers happy and willing to go that extra mile. Demoralizing rumors are flying around about certain upper levels wanting to go back to the old ways. That would be a huge mistake that would negatively affect this great company for years to come.
