I have been working at AT&T full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Not a place if you expect more that you put into bettering yourself either by developing skills or furthering your educatiion. This is a workplace where there is a great horizon of potential in groundbreaking technology.

    Cons

Too much focus is placed gender and race visibility rather than identifying potential and developing strong suites of individuals. Silo'ed environment in many of the business units. If you can find yourself in a good group there is a lot of potential. However it's easy to get lost in all the folds of a company of this scope and have your potential and real ability overlooked.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Leadership needs to work closer with HR to move people up through the ranks, and challenge their employee's to think and work outside of their comfort levels. This is more than simply providing lip service it's a way that is spoken of frequently but not followed through on that makes the staff feel more empowered than I've witnessed in 17 years with the company.
