    Pros

    Pay is ok, good benefits, union, incentives and commission are good, no weekends, casual dress code.

    Cons

    This position is advertised as CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE. That is the way the job title reads in all of their postings. Even in the call center, on the big screens scattered all over the sales floor, they want you to recommend family and friends for the CUSTOMER SERVICE REP position. The small print let's you know that you will have to meet certain sales goals. The managers and trainers let you know that sales are and will be your main goal and priority. They wait until after you're hired to break the news to you. Meanwhile, you may have turned down other more suitable, less stressful jobs by accepting this job offer.
    They give you generic coaching and training on selling their products and expect you to show results immediately with no excuses. Customers call in for account and billing help and have product shoved down their throats. AT&T not only expects you to sell, but you can't take no for an answer. They want you to push, meanwhile expecting positive survey results from customers not calling for a sales pitch, but rather HELP.

    Advice to Management

    Be honest with your new hires and customers. You're having to hire people constantly because so many people leave due to the stress and lack of training. Sales is the main focus of this position, so let that be known. Hire people with sales experience rather than people with service experience who are then forced to sell or face disciplinary action and termination.
    You have a direct sales department. Let them handle the sales instead of the service reps. Service reps generate a higher cancel rate on their sales because they are not properly trained to handle a sales position.
