Not many Pros. There used to be at one time, when the work environment was healthy, management was not biased, people were motivated to work. Nowadays it is the opposite - carrot and stick approach, management (esp, the recruitment side) is blinded and very unfair. They play favorites, are mostly look at everything and everyone in terms of "numbers". If you're aggressive, cold enough to play and survive office politics, willing to do any work as long as it brings you a paycheck - you will do well here.Cons
Mostly everything, except a few good-hearted employees who are too naive to give their opinion and find it easier to nod along with management for everything.
Culture - Office culture is SAD. They have a lot of fancy things to show off - catered dinner, pool table, games, parties etc but the way things are run, no one enjoys (maybe, except the management). There are weekly meetings, which look like reruns of an old sitcom, same things are discussed, week after week, where in people are awake only when its their turn to speak. The so called happy hour after these meetings seems only for the boy gang - where they stay back to shoot some pool and drink beer for hours, even when there is no sense of accomplishment. The employees in India and US are treated very differently in terms of facilities.
Promotions - They happen only when some resigns or threatens to leave. Literally.At least that is the only time 0when they are taken seriously. (This is how few wrong people ended up becoming decision makers in management
Management - The biggest mistake a company can do is have wrong kind of people in management. And here at Akraya, they succeeded in doing this year after year. They promise every year that things will change for better and in the end they turn out worse than before. Management (most) is so insecure that they let the good ones go and want to only keep a staff that goes along with their baseless decisions. They make strategies, randomly, by themselves, without involving mid-management or the people who are directly impacted by their decisions. They impose new rules and policies and expect you to adapt without any question. They seem to have no strategy or vision and "changing strategies" every few months looks like their thing. The new Recruitment Director works remotely, away from management and manages a team that she meets once in two years. The India Director was corrupt to everyone's knowledge and yet he was there. They hire recruiters without any background checks and then blame the mid-management when they do not perform. Recruitment Director claims to be "process-oriented" when she has no sense of recruitment nor is a people's person. Titles are just given for namesake. People at Director level are basically Sr Managers who've been in the company too long. A bunch of similar thinking folks in management are just robbing the company of their money and resources, unfortunately, they don't see. Some of them including the Recruiting Director are not capable of managing large teams. RD is very manipulative and likes to divide and rule. RD claims to be more powerful than the CEO behind their back. None of them have any leadership qualities.
Sales is just a bunch of newbies in the industry and are not aggressive at all. They're all too comfortable where they are.
Honestly, they don't invest time in people nor do they value their employee's feedback. They don't recognize employees based on merit. If you're doing well, they'll throw more money at you and expect you to perform magically. Highly unreasonable. Mostly everyone in management just wants to save themselves, hence, are only interested in temporary successes. HR takes feedback in exit interviews but since most of it is against the management, nobody acts on it.
From a long-term basis, this is not a company to be in.
The attrition rate is 50%. This means something is wrong, very wrong.Advice to ManagementAdvice
To save whatever little remains, I'd advise the CEO to change his management staff or change his management style.
Value employees, give equal opportunities and earn their trust. People have lost faith in management. Please move away from being "process-oriented". You have a bunch of energetic folks in India, give them a platform to grow and learn and a leader who is as driven and can guide them. Not a remote headmaster to track their numbers, attendance and report cards.Doesn't RecommendNegative OutlookApproves of CEO
