Former Employee - Several Different Titles Over 4-5 Years in Tampa, FL

I worked at Bank of America full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Great co-workers, management in Tampa.
    Work-life balance is perfect
Volunteering on behalf of the bank is encouraged strongly
Benefits are strong. Probably the best I have seen in all the companies I have worked for.
Bank provides benefits for those that use public transportation or decides to buy a fuel efficient car like a Pruis.
Can move freely with the company. You want to move to a different place and you have excelled in your position, the bank will move with you and encourage the transfer.
Coming back for a third time. Former employees that leave on positive/good terms are given higher consideration for rehire. (Please note: Bank of America is the ONLY company I have worked for that I would come back to, I have worked for the worse, but Bank of America has always treated me well and I have ZERO complaints.
Total job tenure rolls over for rehires.

    Cons

Constant transition to laying people off, however there are companies that do this everywhere.
Some employees decided to leave rather mean spirited emails on their last day with the company and sent it out on blast. Management freaked out and it was unnecessary.
Lack of HR in all locations. It would be nice to have an HR rep in each regional location.

(Please note: When I mention these as "cons", they are very minor things. Weigh my pros more)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep it simple and sane. Employees are mostly thrilled working for the bank. I have worked for Bank of America twice and I am working to get there for a third time - have interviewed and just waiting for my offer, which I have the fullest of confidences that it is coming. Obviously, the pros of Bank of America way outweigh the Cons. I also worked as a contractor with a different company that had direct involvement with BOA.

Keep the bank the way it is. True open door policies work. Managers are engaging, at least in the location I am in. They are eager to hear what everyone has to say and employee recognition needs to remains a top priority, Don't slip on this. Once you do, as I have seen with other companies, people will find somewhere else to work.
