    I worked at Best Buy

    Pros

    Store Discount,
    Co Workers are great,
    Learning the new technology can be great
    ,Some fun events sponsored by the store. Meetings are informative and entertaining,
     Support from some management personnel
    was excellent
    Work was always changing from day to day.
    Smaller store had more loyal customers

    Cons

    Too much popularity contest to advance.
    Hours difficult to obtain even for Full Time Employees
    Too many unwritten rules created by management at will
    Always more responsiblity given to Geek Squad agents with little recognition
    Cannot make ends meet on meager salary
    Experience not rewarded with proper training or opportunity
    Expect to hear from every person with a broken device not just computers.
    Check function on any returned items before selling as "Open Box"
    (Geek Squad department now taking trade in electronics,
    Best Buy Pawn Shop is Open.)
    Understaffing and incompetent associates make good customer relations difficult
    Being stuck between unhappy clients and bottom line focused managers is high stress position
    Expect to be treated as a sales associate,
    Dragged out to sell computers instead of work on computer repairs
    Take any comments for what they are worth, If you have real technician skills
    Seek another place to enter the IT field,
    Geek Squad is more concerned with sales than providing quality services.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Allow Geek Squad to return to being a service focused business.
    Advocate more responsiblity to other associates or offer more money to award experience and performance.
    Your training initiatives and information sharing is top level.
    The constant advancement of new ideas and new product and service offerings is a winner.
    The position of Geek Squad is not respected in the Information Technology Field or in consumer circles.
    Return the dignity of Geek Squad technicians, allow bench technicians to occupy a shift in every store during peak hours. You will cut down on repeat client returns and raise client satisfaction.
