Work/Life balance does not exist; Potential for horrible management...

I worked at C.H. Robinson Worldwide full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

There is a ton that a person can learn here, if they are in a fortunate area. CHR is truly a knowledgeable enterprise in the Supply Chain/Logistics world. Also, there are many awesome on-site perks (free lunches, ice cream treats, holiday parties, etc).

    Cons

Unfortunately, the on-site perks make up for the lack of work/life balance. They have an archaic model for hours there. I was expected to be there 7 am - 4 pm, every day. We would often have deployments at night where the workers would put in an additional 2 - 6 hours, depending on how things went, but still had to be there at 7 am. Try working 9 hours after only getting 3.5 hours of sleep working the night before.

So much here is dependent on the boss, though. Many other areas had much better times, and their employee retention showed for it. Benefits were mediocre. Leadership overall is ok, but, as i said, there are some horrible people in management that should never have gotten there.

Onboarding is lacking in a big way. The systems there are all "home grown", and it shows. No UX design, no oversight on the requests being submitted, no real process.

So much is a roll of the dice. I could not get out fast enough. I would advise to keep looking elsewhere...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider having some type of oversight for the poor managers you have. The employees live in fear of having a dissenting opinion because of the outdated 'Old Boys' mentality that permeates the culture.
