    I worked at C&D Zodiac full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    Nice people. CATIA experience is valuable. FAA regulations are thorough, good practice for an engineer. Fun team building activities. If you went to CMU, UCSB, UCLA, you'll be hired on the spot, get a couple years experience as an engineer on your resume, and start applying elsewhere.

    Cons

    This company was sold in 2005 and has been in autopilot ever since. The upper management are riding out their careers until retirement, and all other positions are being standardized for ease of employee training and replacement. The new owners have profit goals which don't take into account the current marketplace/workplace. Profits are kept high by reducing costs, including freezing employee salary. This results in high turnover. Employees hired after 2005 rarely stay longer than 1-5 years. The older employees are stuck, but when they finally retire there will be no one to train the new hires. Zodiac will attempt to move all non-executive positions overseas before this happens.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Use some of Zodiac's profit to invest back into the company. Higher pay would increase retention. More employees would result in deadlines met, and more time spent on opportunities for improvement. Promotion based on friendship over achievement is bad for moral. Reward overtime. Allow more position change requests. Get more involved with the programs. More accurate bonus assessment.
