I have been working at Ecology and Environment full-time (more than 5 years)Pros
Some good people to work with
At times, forward thinking with technology (just not always execution)
Potential for lots of travel, if you like that
Potential to attend outside training seminars
Decent mentoring for junior staffCons
Lot's of politics, and promotions often based more on who you know than on achievements.
IT department is always 3-5 years behind the rest of the world.
Top tier of upper management group are oddly out of touch with the company.
HQ workforce out of touch with satellite offices, which creates a disconnect between the HQ half of the company and the other half of the staff located in satellite offices and doing most of the actual work.
Poor benefits and pay is on the low side for the industry.
Potential for lots of travel, whether you like it or not.
No real vision for mentoring or advancement for mid-level staff.Advice to ManagementAdvice
Company needs new blood from outside for upper management positions to give the company a breath of fresh air. An outside CEO hire could do wonders to break up the stagnation at HQ.
Get up to date on healthcare benefits and offer more affordable options.
Create a mentoring system for mid-level staff, so they can grow into a promotion instead of leaving for a promotion through a new job.Neutral OutlookDisapproves of CEO
