I have been working at Fairleigh Dickinson University full-time (more than 5 years)

Close knit group of people working for the good of the students. Most departments are willing to help each other out. Mid level employees are great - but as many cases in higher ed, senior level management has been here for 30 years and is rather grandfathered in and unwilling to consider change.

Sometimes lack of communications causes stress. Office culture is usually quite casual which can breed confusion as to organizational cultural norms. Few opportunities for professional growth.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

FDU is a great place with great people. I'd really encourage management to critically evaluate office/department heads to get a feel for how their staffs are really feeling. I've learned that most of the time, people stay here out of allegiance to the FDU community and to the students they work with - NOT for their supervisors.
